Why are our roads bucking under 100 degree tems but Vegas does not?

If I had to wager a guess, I would think its because of the soil underneath the roads and not the actual roads themselves. The land/soil here is quite different than in Vegas.

contraction and expansion. it's worse after rain, but we haven't had much of that.
mostly just extended heat.

I would guess Vegas experiences this as well, but I think they tar all their roads to reflect surface heat.
