July 17, 2012 (CHICAGO) -- Police in Chicago say former Bradley University basketball player Adebayo Akinkunle is recovering after being robbed of a Range Rover and more than $100,000 in cash.


The Chicago Tribune reports Akinkunle was pistol-whipped and was treated at a hospital for a broken nose and cuts to his head and wrist. Police say several items, including cell phones and credit cards, were also taken during attack at his condominium in Chicago's South Loop neighborhood.

Akinkunle was the 1998 Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year and led the Braves to three postseason appearances but went undrafted in the 1998 NBA draft. He went on to play overseas and was inducted in Bradley's athletics hall of fame in 2009.
