Lots of advice from non parent guys here. What's that all about? You got a nephew for a couple weeks and you think you're dispensing advice to guys that have been parents for fucking 10 years? Ohhh-kaaay.

Let me add my 18 cents here.

Most kids I have seen act much better around anyone else but the parents! This is not just from my nephew, but my friends kids, etc. They act like .....well....uhm...ASSHOLES...around their parents. Nothing is good, everything sucks, they always want something else, but when my nephew spends the day with me at a Cubs game, he is no problem at all..if my sister or Bro in Law goes with he is just a total asshole.

Feel free to explain away.

Kids are assholes.

Explanation over.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the boy's parents have never met you chas. Otherwise they just hate their son.

Rohypnol and Tequila will keep the little whippersnapper placid.

Get the Ghost Adventures: Gettysburg episode. Either he will be excited to be ghost hunting at the battlefield or he will be scared out of his mind....both should keep him plenty occupied.

We did this trip a few years ago, our kids were a little older than 9. We hit the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown the day before, as well as a coal mine trip. The kids actually enjoyed the driving tour of Gettysburg with commentary on the CD player in the car. That way you can make your own pace and stop longer or not. As far as entertainment on the way, I would think something along Iron Man/Dark Knight stuff would be ok, maybe a Field of Dreams throwback, or go with Ken Burns Civil War documentary- he can sleep the whole way!
