About 2 weeks ago, Scott Torgerson, an afternoon sports talk radio host at WBNS-FM in Columbus, OH actually Tweeted that he wanted former Michigan football star turned ESPN "College GameDay" analyst Desmond Howard to die so that he could watch "GameDay" again. I'm not making this up, folks. Although Torgerson's Twitter account was deleted and had apologized, claiming he was joking, his radio bosses at the sports talker, known in Columbus as 97.1 FM The Fan, and a teammate of Howard's at ESPN aren't laughing.

Kirk Herbstreit, a co-host of Howard's on "College GameDay" as well as ESPN/ABC's lead college football analyst and a fellow host on The Fan in Columbus, took exception to Torgerson's controversial, ill-fated Tweet. Herbstreit called Torgerson's Tweet "sad & disgusting" and felt Scott "crossed a line and that's just completely unacceptable."

After initially suspending Torgerson indefinitely for his ill-fated Tweet without pay, WBNS, which also happens to be an ESPN Radio affiliate, fired the co-host of the "Common Man and the Torg" afternoon show yesterday. This story however might not be over though. Torgerson has threatened legal action against The Fan, claiming the sports talker didn't have cause for his termination. Neither WBNS nor ESPN could be reached for comment regarding Torgerson's potential legal action.
