Hello friends, I've been downloading torrents forever but decided to switch to Newsgroups (so far so good!). Lately, with the rush of DVD screeners being released, a couple of my family members want me to get them movies and I don't live close enough to give them a USB stick.

I've been reading, and it seems it's pretty easy to create my own torrent... that is, download the file from my newsgroup, and "create new torrent" in uTorrent, add a tracker, and send them the torrent file. Easy, right?

Here is my question, am I opening myself up to being busted? I'm not going to list the torrent anywhere, so no one else will have access to the file. Of course my ISP will have some basic information, but is it enough to incriminate me?

TLDR, anyone know if I can get busted for creating my own torrent to share with another person, if I don't list it?

I have no clue about creating torrents....sorry.

However:
I recently got a warning from Xfinity b/c we downloaded season 1 of Sons of Anarchy. Which is totally stupid of me when we had it on Netflix and On Demand anyway. I have heard they "track" t.v. shows pretty hard nowadays. I guess it's true...

You can use MEGA.

@doug - Use Peerblock - and private trackers, ideally.

That being said, I don't mess with movies or TV shows much.

I thought Mega was busted? Any size limit?

http://mega.co.nz (ha) has a tracert that ends up in washington DC, just in case anyone cares about this sort of thing. probably not. i'd just go with schaumburg on this one and try to nevermind the possible legal implications that could come from having an individual encrypton key attributed to your account when you upload your warez to mega.co.nz (ha)

Megaupload was. MEGA is its successor, using different encryption and no de-duplication.

Perfect, so I should be safe since only 1 or 2 people will download it, right?

Any idea what the ISP sees? Should I be concerned about that?

Why not just yell your family to steal this stuff themselves?

Hello friends, I've been smoking meth forever but decided to switch to Weed (so far so good!). Lately, with the rush of Breaking Bad hype, a couple of my family members want me to get them meth and I don't live close enough to give them my guy's phone number.

I've been reading, and it seems it's pretty easy to create my own meth... that is, buy all the ingredients from various stores, and "create new meth" in my basement, add a lil cut, and send them the meth. Easy, right?

Here is my question, am I opening myself up to being busted? I'm not going to sell the meth anywhere, so no one else will have access to my meth. Of course my credit card will have some basic information, but is it enough to incriminate me?

TLDR, anyone know if I can get busted for creating my own meth to share with another person, if I don't sell it?

This.

He's not a tech guy, and I'm not comfortable with him getting in to torrents. Just easier if I can help out.

If you were a shoplifter, and someone asked you to steal some stuff for them, would you do that too?

No. And in this case, I'm offering to steal for him.
