I still have some BB cards from the '70s and '80s, but I jumped in pretty heavy in the early '90s - just as the bubble burst
I have about two medium bins of incomplete sets, commons, doubles, inserts from like 1992 - 1994. A lot of hockey (including ProSet...

), some baseball and basketball.
Anyone want 'em relatively cheap?

The only reason I made money on hockey cards was I got very lucky.
First year United Center opened they where selling old packs for $1 a shot. I got 10. In one pack was J.R. in All Star gear. In another was Chelly in same gear.(purple shirts) I had them signed then sold ,made very nice profit. In another pack I got a limited edition Gretzky Hologram card that was sold within 2 weeks for a really nice profit. Other stuff in there was okay. I got most of the Hawks and a few others signed. I know a couple of guys who work for the Org.You see one of them on TV almost every home game.
Baseball you can make money you just have to work at it. Basketball you will never turn a profit from them, you would be lucky to come close to break even.
Stuff like Magic is very hit or miss. Condition of the card is not as important as its rarity. 15 years ago when I got out I sold a complete set of Dragons for over $400 alone. What sucks with Magic is the speed at wich new stuff comes out making stuff useless and therefore garbage. The other thing the do that wreaks card value is make them ineligible for tournament use.
