1. Cafe Du Mond's Beignet quality has gone downhill a little bit, they mask it by over-sugaring them.
2. Going to New Orleans when a Motorcycle "Club" is having a convention there is an adventure.
3. Still my second favorite city in the U.S.

The coffee there is pretty crappy (I drink it black). The "doughnuts" are overrated. Basically, the place has a great atmosphere. That's it.

It is one of my top five cities. It is quite unique relative to other U.S. cities.

I have been to NOLA several times but to Cafe Du Monde just once. It is a tourist trap. Crappy coffee, no refills, the beignets are no better than a krispy kreme and the patio is overrun by pigeons. Keep it.

For a real treat go running through the Quarter early in the morning on a hot day. The odor is unique; a mixture of garbage, urine and vomit.

That said, the food, drink, people, buildings, and music still make it one one of my favorite US cities.

I found Cafe Beignet to be really good.
The motorcycle club made going on Bourbon Street after dark a real adventure. Did it on Thursday night and that was it. They were taking up a whole block of the street and were taking the fun out of the area. Instead I hung out on the other side of the French Quarter where the Mardi Gras parade was starting from on Saturday night. That was a blast, one of my friends used to live in NOLA and was a part of one of the krewes for that parade and she was an excellent host for the day and parade.

I love NO. Great food, great drink, interesting atmosphere. I could go back every year.

No, as she put it, we would demand a refund.

My friend's wife wandered a few blocks off Bourbon St. and get held up.

Dude was holding his index finger under his shirt pretending he had a gun. She called him out on it, but he relented..."give me your money." She reached into her pocketbook and took out a few bills, to which he responded "all of it." She told him that she needed money too. He took the few bills from her and left.

One last thing, the parade was a thing. They really really really hate Roger Goodell down there, every other float was a fuck the nfl. As deadspin notes:

Regardin Du Monde, I don't drink coffee but how much different can they make a donut? Consistency would not seem to be an issue.

That city in Tennesee where you have to pay the fire department fee or they let your house burn down.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!

The Saints wouldn't even be in the Big Easy if it weren't for Goodell. Per, Michael Wilbon.
