Ugh

Man, there are like 10 specials like that on Netflix at a time and I cant even get thru one of them.

This. Did not like the ass beatings when I got them as a child and promised myself too not do it as a parent. Never have or will. A look is all my kids ever needed. A loud voice (mine carries) does the job just as well. Sometimes just the look drives them to tears and that tears me up knowing I do not even have to raise my hand. They know.

Most of the time it is the parents who need the ass kicking. Good parents usually have good kids as far as behavior goes. Unruly kids are products of parents who let the kids rule the roost or Gramma and Grandpa raise them because Mom and Dad cannot or wont.

I've smacked my son's hand a couple times and feel like an asshole doing it. Even raising my voice to him makes me feel like a dick but I realize it is necessary. Time outs work great for us, he really despises having to sit still.

Spanking worked with me...dad did it once and every time after that if I started to act up, he'd give me that look and I'd promptly plant my ass against the nearest wall and shape up.

Didn't work as well with my brothers I think.

So yeah, I can see why someone would want to do it but I also can see why someone wouldn't.
