It's okay to admit Bernstein is right once in awhile. I'm sure even Hitler had some good opinions on certain subjects.

Uh oh! Rongey just said it's never a failure if you make the playoffs because "baseball happens" in the playoffs. What a turncoat!

I was talking about Hitler once with some friends and was wondering how a guy like that could get into power... they said, he was a wizard when it came to delivering speeches... he had a golden tongue that would turn anyone to his side. But when I watch his speeches on youtube, he is screaming and yelling in German. I don't think it is very convincing at all, and I'll grant you I don't speak German, but if I saw someone doing that in English, I don't know that I would be convinced that he is a great leader.

He was also high as shit on a concoction of meth and other drugs his personal doctor shot him up with every day.

I think when he tried to get in power he rented out the Bronco's stadium and built a fake Greek Parthenon for the speech.

Given the hype that has surrounded this team since going back to last October, anything less than a WS title should be a disappointment. Not being a hater, but this team was expected to be good....they are good...they best deliver.

I'd really like them to just get it over with so I never have to hear about curses and Bartman again.

Of course it will be a disappointment if this team doesn't win it all this season but unless they're up 3-1 in the series and blow it, it won't be a choke job.

Choking would be missing the playoffs.

For as good as this team is and how much they've dominated, anything less than a WS appearance would be a choke job. They have to get there.

Let's say an offer is made by the Yankees: Chapman (for half a season) in exchange for Schwarber. Let's assume that making the trade increases the Cubs' chances of winning the title by 20% this year but decreases it 5% for the next 5 years. Do you think Theo makes the deal? How much is he willing to risk for a single year vs maintaining maximum "bites at the apple"?

Id think the offensive production this year without Schwarber means that he could be expendable for the right deal.

I would agree when you also account for the fact that he has way more value in the AL. The problem is that now, his value is low due to the injury.

Only one team wins the world series every year. I'd hardly say that the balance of the league is choking... Not winning the division at this point would be a choke. The fucking Giants scare me shitless come playoff time. Baseball is crazy though, if the Cubs end up like the Braves and make runs every year for a decade but only win once.... I'll be perfectly fine with that.

Chapman is a pretty big value

I had 2018-2020 as the years the Cubs would finally win a WS. They're ahead of schedule.

Depends how it happens. If they are up 3-0 to Texas in the 2017 WS and they lose... Yes its a choke. If they consistently get there but just keep losing, it will be a failure but I dont know if you can call it choking.
