How so? Forecasting the weather isn't an exact science. How does a scientist not understand that?

They are right far more often than they are wrong. All it takes is for the storm to jog off center a bit, and that can vastly throw off storm totals. Everything happened exactly the way they said it would.

They aren't wrong so often. There are normally ranges and normally they are pretty close to correct. Lake effect snow is by far the hardest thing to forecast though since the bands can literally be a matter of miles.

They had everything correct. From he counties most likely to get hit, to the timing.

I am really struggling with the idea that MANY adults don't understand how weather forecasting works.

We've gotten about a foot here in Kenosha. I live relatively close to the lake which has padded some of those numbers. It is
mostly light and fluffy with a slushy layer on the bottom. Calling for rain later in the week so this will all likely be gone within
a week and then we will have some flooding.

Cleared my driveway off by 5:30 this morning. Left for work at 6am. Went home for lunch at 11 and there was 6 inches
of fresh powder that fell! It was really coming down this morning in Kenosha. Looks like I have some work cut
out for me tonight after work. Hopefully the last time I need to move snow this season.

Meh, this was nothing, walked the dog in Hayes park this morning, maybe 3 inches..none of stuck to the asphalt or concrete by noon. I'd say for all the big talk wrightwood got 3-3.5 inches today n she blew her load.. Weakest winter in my lifetime ( since 1980)

It only took me five hours to shovel. Then when I finished, I got the message that my campus is closed tomorrow.
