This story doesn't seem like a big deal really, but I had to laugh at the bolded parts. Muzzle Awareness is more or less the first lesson in gun safety 101.

Quote:
Sean Hannity once pointed a gun at Juan Williams: report

Fox News host Sean Hannity once aimed a gun at Juan Williams, the network’s political analyst, CNN Money reported Thursday.

Hannity allegedly turned on the weapon’s laser sight, causing a red dot to appear on Williams’ body, according to the network, which said it confirmed the October incident between Hannity and Williams, who is also a contributor to The Hill, with three sources.

The sources told the outlet that the off-camera incident disturbed Williams and others present, though Hannity was merely showing off, according to the report.

“This incident is being sensationalized,” Williams said in a statement reported by the network.

"Everything was under total control throughout and I never felt like I was put in harm’s way. It was clear that Sean put my safety and security above all else and we continue to be great friends," he added.

Hannity’s colleagues brought the incident to the attention of Fox News executives, CNN reported, although it remains unclear if anything happened afterwards.

Sources told the outlet that the event was reported to Bill Shine, Fox News’s co-president and a longtime executive there. Shine is a longtime friend of Hannity’s and once served as a producer on his television show, CNN noted.

“Sean Hannity has been trained in firearm safety since he was 11 years old and has a license to carry a gun in five states, including New York,” Fox News said in a statement Thursday.

“The situation was thoroughly investigated and it was found that no one was put in any danger,” a network spokesperson added, noting the incident was referred to the company’s legal and human resources department.

Hannity also acknowledged the incident in a statement Thursday to CNN.

“While discussing the issue of firearms, I showed my good friend Juan Williams my unloaded firearm in a professional and safe manner for educational purposes only,” Hannity said.

Every precautionary procedure that I have been trained in since the age of 11 was followed. I’ve had a conceal carry permit in five states for all of my adult life. Any other interpretation of this is outright false reporting.”

After reading the title, my guess would have been that Sean Hannity had no idea how to hold a firearm and randomly pointed it at someone's face. I still think that's probably what happened.

Rule #1 of firearm safety is treat it like it's loaded.

Rule #2 is don't point it at something unless you intend to shoot it.

If you break the first two claim self defense and say they were running right at you.

People who don't handle firearms properly make me crazy.
Saw a lady at the range last week pop a mag into a pistol and immediately wave it around the booth she was in. Managed to point it at herself, the person in the left booth (me) the person in the right booth and he instructor who screamed bloody murder at her for a solid 60 seconds.

Thought about it.
I'll say that every time I go to the range, and I do like to shoot frequently, I see something extremely stupid happen. Not to be a jerk but it tends to be these women who want to buy a gun for their purse or something and don't know what they're doing.

Hannity has to be the biggest dickwad on FOX and that's saying a lot! I watch him sometimes like I would watch a horrific car accident. He loves bragging about his guns and what a big man he is.

We all know what that means!

That you shouldn't break into his house?

Quote:
Last year, after ending one of his many spirited on-air arguments with liberal contributor Juan Williams, Hannity pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at Williams, according to three sources with knowledge of the incident.

This is hackish writing at best, fake news at worst. Though this is where we can run into problems with classifying "fake news", because while what is implied by these words ("pulled a gun on..." and "pulled out a gun and pointed it directly...") has been steadfastly denied by both parties involved, it isn't necessarily "fake".

Even my preferred fake news definition of "patently false statement of material fact" has trouble on this, because Hannity's version of events still require him to remove a concealed weapon, and if the barrel ever crossed Williams' path, it was, technically speaking, "pointed at" Williams. But that's not what these words were written to mean. Dylan Byers had something else in mind constructing these sentences, and it was not "accurately and fairly reporting what took place". What do we call that, if not "fake news"? Unethical hackery?

Lucky for Mr. Williams that it wasn't Dick Cheney pointing that gun at him.
