My Obamacare insurance went from $331 to $427, thankfully I go onto the company insurance at the end of this month.

Mine is in May. Last year(my company's partners) did a pretty good job keeping the benefits the same without costs going up too much, but they warned 2017 could be a shitstorm.

Mine stayed right around the same as last year.

my companies healthcare plan went up 20% this year... and then people say its because of obamacare... however that works...

Quote:
Cynthia Cox estimates that a 40-year-old making 160 percent of the poverty line would get $4,143 in subsidies under the ACA, but only $3,000 under the GOP plan; by contrast, a 40-year-old making $75,000 would get nothing under the ACA, but $3,000 under the GOP plan.

somehow this isnt surprising. but i guess i am due to gain from ditching my employer plan and getting on republicare.

Reading some analysis on the this first version of legislation reveals Trumpcare is no different than ObamaCare. The main criticism of ObamaCare is rising premiums and/or lack of choice?

How the heck is the "continous coverage" provision paired with supposed increased choice of plans going to solve ObamaCare's issue. As a guy under-30 I'm going to buy the skimpiest/cheapest plan available to satisfy the continuous coverage requirement. Then when I break my arm, tear my ACL, etc I'll purchase a better plan without penalty. Insurers cannot discriminate against my pre-existing condition and they can't charge me the 30% penalty rate as I had continuous coverage.

Six years and this is the grand solutions??? Same shit (maybe worse) but different name. Suuuuuuuuuucks.

I don't think it is that simple. Obamacare was designed in a way to make it very difficult to get rid of. It can't happen in one grand action. This is the problem with getting so many people on government insurance(or heavily subsidized from the government). You can't just say "Get rid of it".

This seemingly wants to at least somewhat change the tide of this with making it a tax break instead of a subsidy. That is something that is much easier to modify as time goes on.

Yeah, I think this except from Megan McArdle sums it up:

In the individual market, the bill repeals the mandate and replaces it with a 30 percent premium penalty for anyone -- healthy or sick -- who does not maintain continuous insurance coverage. The tax credits for buying insurance are also altered, to be based on age rather than income. And it increases the “age rating” insurers are allowed to do; currently, they’re allowed to charge their oldest customers only three times what they charge the youngest, but under the Republicans' American Health Care Act, that ratio will be allowed to rise to five to one. This is going to substantially shift the beneficiaries of the program away from the old and poor, and toward the young-to-middle-aged middle class.

Arguably, this could help some of the problems that Obamacare has created in the individual market, by making it more attractive for healthier folks to buy insurance. Unfortunately, the other changes made to the market will probably make that situation worse than it is now. For what’s just as notable is what this bill doesn’t do: repeal most of the thicket of regulations that have helped drive up the cost of insurance. This bill leaves a huge swath of Obamacare untouched, which is why more than one conservative commentator has noted that it’s basically Obamacare Lite: "1/3 less income redistribution than regular Obamacare! Same great taste you love!"

Don't forget about the tax breaks for the wealthy insurance executives. It's not a Republican plan, unless it's giving more money to the rich.

The bill is called "World's Greatest Healthcare Plan of 2017". That's awesome.

It took the ACA a year to pass. They're trying to force Trumpcare through in 60 days and shitting on the CBO before they score it.

This is going to be more fucked up than Obamacare. Trump will have his own "If you like your doctor..." if this passes.*

*Is that a pro-Trump statement?

They want to add a work requirement for Medicaid. Just another way to create more slave labor.

This whole shit show is just because they have to repeal ACA because they said they've been trying to repeal the ACA for years.

If they'd just dig into it and fix what isn't working, it'd probably work out better for everyone.

Have they gotten rid of the lines yet? Once the lines are gone it'll be magnificent!
