Teens don't even txt any more....snapchat is the only way they communicate now. it's ridiculous.

If your kid is in HS and claim to not be using Snapchat...they're likely lying.

Not the only way but the most effective. I know that I am probably really conservative as a parent but I don't see the need to get young kids cell phones. Mostly bad things will happen.

Tough with various activities. Coordinating pickups, staying late etc. Change of plans... We want to monitor what she is up to. Used the "find my phone" feature a few times to figure out where she was. In an odd way it gives her more autonomy than otherwise we would be comfortable with.

One of my daughter's friends has an account on her friend's ipad.

Not having a phone/tablet definitely skews it, but they find a way.

My daughter does not have a phone. She’s 14. It’s driving her crazy but she is being difficult about a few things as far as family is concerned and hadn’t come through with flying colors with the freedoms and responsibilities her mother and I have given her. She complained about it once and I told her she could, you know, interact with her family and show that she’s ready for it.

Easily solved. She’s not allowed to have friends.

Obviously I’m kidding. Of course there is no way to completely eliminate the possibility of a teen or anyone doing something stupid. You raise them the best you can and put in the limits or freedoms you think are appropriate and go from there.

If she doesnt already and it's a legit possibility, tell her to get Straight A's and then maybe you can talk about it.

We did plenty of dumb shit. We just were blessed/cursed with not having all the technology at our disposal. Instead of snapchat nudes we had to wait until one of the girls got drunk enough at a party and flashed the crowd.

sad that we were maybe the last generation to know the joy of finding a weathered Hustler, or, holy grail, stack of abandoned Penthouses in the woods.

I thank Allah every day that this technology didn't exist when I was a kid.

I was cleaning out an old bin in the crawl space and found some old physical photos taken from a disposable camera (remember those). They were mostly from a bunch of girls flashing from a Mardi Gras party we had at our house in college. Great find, but thankfully, people just had disposable cameras with maybe the occasional very old digital camera around. I can't imagine how fast photos like that spread with the technologies we have now.
