Just curious if there were any gifts that were being given out this year that you were hoping would elicit a big surprise from your kids,
family or significant other. One of the best parts of the holiday for me is to give something to a person that doesn't expect it
at all, it doesn't even have to be big or expensive. My wife and I decided a few years ago that instead of buying her son just
toys and video games that we would try to get him something that was more along the lines of an experience that would be a
memory. Last year we got him a trip to indoor skydiving which he enjoyed very much. About a month ago my wife and I saw
a commercial for a Cirque du Soleil show that was coming to Milwaukee for just a handful of performances and pulled the trigger
on some good seats near the front. A few weeks after we bought the tickets he mentioned something about wanting to go to a
circus or carnival so my wife and I just looked at each other and were happy we went the route we did. Hopefully he will be
excited at the prospect of going.

You never repeat the name of the gift when you receive it.

"Oh! Tube socks..."

Picked up my son these sweet light up t-Rex rain boots just because. He spent an hour running around the house squealing with excitement. Was great to watch the reaction even for a non present. I never buy him anything so surely that was part of the shock reaction. Oh and he is 22 years old.

Aright, he is 4.

Kids love rain boots. Any time it rains, my boys want to jump in puddles.

Big time. It rained like crazy during our subdivision Christmas party so he was puddle stomping in 40 degree weather the entire time. Took his boots off and he had over an inch of standing water inside his boot. Never complained for a second but was frozen through.

Indoor Skydiving has to be like showering while wearing a raincoat.

I did not try it as I was the camera man on the outside. Didn't have much interest to me, but when you are 13 years old
I am sure it probably seemed cool. Actually a lot of little kids there doing it for a birthday party.

This year, not so much, but last year, got my daughter tickets to see Roger Waters, and she was overwhelmed. It was pretty damn cool. The concert was great, too, so we share that memory. A Polar Express train car might get my nine year-old excited.

We got our seventh-graded a phone and gave it to him a few weeks ago. Not sure why, but whatevs.

It would be awesome if someone got me Alice in Chains tickets, Tommy hinted.

My favorite was when my sons were like 5 & 2(i.e. before video games took over). I'd gotten a windfall and among other things decided to spend a chunk of it on extra smaller gifts for them. My wife was a stickler for wrapping everything and there was stuff everywhere. So much so that I honestly think they got winded tearing everything open.

About 15 minutes later they realized they'd only gotten through 3/4ths of their stuff and went nuts again.

Probably the best reaction I'd ever gotten from an extra $200-250.

Are you/he going to be using it for video/photography?

Indoor sucks. I did it over in Rosemont, and they don’t run the air fast enough to hold you up well. I am sure it is a safety thing. But I knocked real sky diving off my bucket list this year, and that is quite a rush. I don’t recommend it though for over 40’s. When they release the chute, you go from horizontal to vertical and from 120MPH to near zero in a split second. My stomach was a wreck.

Really? I went skydiving about 4 years ago, and the jolt I had when the chute opened was akin to a roller coaster coming to a quick stop. It wasn't bad at all. The eeriest part was the incredible sound of air rushing past my ears, to dead, dead silence in a matter of 2 seconds.

I hid a few presents last year, and they were thrilled when I busted 'em out....
