how is it compared to say chicago? and I know it's the south so it's a whole different thing.

I see on food channel and other shows how diverse it is and the food is suppose to be great. But for the most part race relations pretty good?

As I posted earlier, this is the most diverse city in the world. Demographics and actuarial tables predict it will only get more diverse, if that means anything to you.

thats good. I like it like that, diverse. means I can get some good food and a good variety of food.

How is the IT job market in Houston? Probably not as good as Dallas / Plano, but would guess there's a decent amount of work.

Well Houston is second behind New York for headquartered Fortune 500 companies, so there are plenty of white collar jobs. If you're in the IT field I'm not telling you anything you don't know that where white collar and intellectual economy jobs thrive, there is going to be a ton of technology that needs to be installed, upgraded, maintained, developed, etc. I don't work at a big company and we've always got like 2-7 IT contractors running around here every given day.

Not to be repetitive, but with the further development of the Med Center, the IT infrastructure involved around that complex is going to be remarkable.

But as far as large employers with an IT division as a profit center, I can't think of any off hand. I'm sure the consulting practices here have IT groups, but we don't have a major IBM campus here or anything.

From my limited experience, much,much better than Dallas & possibly a bit better than here.

No, Houston is still the leading option. I have room and board there that's going to be rent free so that's a big plus.
