They have the same current problems. I don’t ever want to see anyone here criticizing the NBA while apologizing and advocating for college football.

What problems are these?

Top heavy teams where you know the number one contender and can count the other couple contenders in less fingers than an entire hand takes up.

That’s actually not even fair to the NBA. Teams like the Celtics and Rockets didn’t look as pathetic as the Irish and Sooners did in the CFB.

If'n I could argue with that, I would. However, I don't think this is a permanent set-up for NCAAF.

I saw on ESPN that they might look at expanding the playoff in 2025. I think the elimination game aspect at least provides some drama, whereas a 7 game series will usually end up in the better team winning barring injury or suspension.

Nice use and placement of if'n. It's the highlight of this thread.

So stipulated. The current CFB playoff offering is boring shit that nobody wants to hear about on local talk radio, and ultimately hurts the league. Same goes for the NBA, right?

The difference is that there are hundreds of college teams, and there are different types of goals and "championships " they can strive for. A team like Illinois isn't setting a national championship as its goal.

College football has issues in that it has so many teams and they can't all play each other, so the national champion is really just a matter of opinion if you think about it.

100% true and it also applies to NCAA basketball.

The College football regular season matters though.

I've always thought that was a tough sell when half the games are 50 point blowouts

What?

Even if you allow for over exaggeration this isn't true.

the problem with CFB is that the games are 4 fucking hours long. No other sport, pro or college, has 4 hour marathons for every game. Total waste of time.

I can watch several college basketball games in the time it takes to complete one college football game.

Come on. That's not true.

Only an occasional early season non-conference game where Southwest Oregon Community College for the Blind wants to take a shot at Alabama.

The Citadel gave Bama a tougher game than LSU did when LSU was #3 in the country.
