You gotta put it on a rag and wipe off car, if you let goof off sit for 20 seconds it will go through the clear coat but not the baked on enamel paint job.

It's not a terrible job to replace the timing belt/water pump yourself, at least on my 1999 Civic with four cylinder, not positive about the six. The car doesn't owe you any money any more, if you get another few years out of it you recoup the repair cost. It's the insurance etc. that kills me to keep the extra vehicle, but Michigan rates are even higher than Illinois. I still can't see how you urban folk keep new cars decent with all the parking dings and idiot drivers in the city, I'd drive a reliable beater all the time, if it was me. And being stick, it is virtually theft-proof on it's own, leave the keys right in the ignition!

ha, i search for selling a car tips and i find my own damn thread from 9 months ago.

i love the car, but i only put 3k miles on it over the last 9 months and it just isnt worth a minimum $500 a year to have a spare car ($30 a mo for liability only and $151 registration fee and then whatever breaks is just more $$).

the thing i worry most about selling it is not getting screwed on payment. Am I insane for wanting to witness the guy go to a bank to get a certified check for $1000 to $1500? I cant accept a personal check, i suppose cash is an option as long as i can figure out how to verify im not getting funny money. how best to handle taking payment?

Under a couple of grand I'm needing cash.

Yeah, if someone gives me some story about why they can't bring the 2k in cash, there is no way I'm taking a personal check from that guy.
