AXDX. I don't think the company is worthless but it has a lot of shorts if the kids in the basement are paying attention.

Chamath has been giving it to one of the clown market apologists on CNBC for the last 20 minutes. The talking head is so out of his depth that it's hilarious.

"Pump and dump" is not the term I would use for this. To me, "pump and dump" suggests that a bunch of quasi-criminals taking a shell company and driving up the stock price with optimistic press releases, etc. and then selling all at once. This is a bunch of guys with no insider knowledge who aren't pretending that these companies have any real value or future but simply see that there are a lot of shorts and they're banding together to squeeze the shit out of them. It's ingenious, really. And there's nothing illegal or even shady about it.

The guys complaining remind me of the coach in Remember The Titans after Ronnie Bass puts that juke move on the lineman. "Ref! Unnecessary roughness!" "On the quarterback? Really?"

That's what's so laughable at attempts to shut it down.

Not being big on the deep details, I wonder if this would've happened if section 230 had been repealed.

That raises the question- and I admit that I'm not sophisticated enough to answer it, maybe Dennis can (no sarcasm)- why do we allow this casino style nonsense anyway? I get the original point of a stock market- so companies can raise capital. But what is the point of shorting and indexes and derivatives other than allowing a bunch of guys who don't produce anything tangible or positive for society to make obscene sums gambling?

Exactly. We need to limit this type of gambling to the farmers- who mortgage 200% of everything they have managed to scrape together over the past four generations to grow a crop almost completely dependent on the weather, and then use futures to hedge their losses or cap their profits!!

I understand the practical use of commodities futures. I'm asking about products that seem to have been created purely for the sake of gambling.

Options are normally a way to manage risk. Can't help it that they are a wonderful tool for gambling.

Our 14 year old had 150 in an etrade account. He had my wife transfer it to AMC this morning,
