You need different tiers in a prison, more work should be being done by inmates who learn a skill. Also, there should be a separate prison for fuckups who can't control themselves or rapists.. you throw urine or feces you go to the biggest shithole in the state.

they should create a pedo/rapist island in the middle of the pacific. no guards other than the sharks in the ocean. airdrop mre's and fresh water once a week.

but other industrialized countries don't seem to have assault as the implied additional punishment to a prison sentence.

How much are we following what's going on in foreign prisons? How much is being reported? I doubt "prison justice" is uniquely American. If fact, MANY complain about the treatment that they receive in foreign prisons. Either way, this was about someone getting revenge for the rape of their minor sister. I'm confident that human emotion has no borders.

I think prisons tend to be filled with violent people with poor impulse control.

I suspect that crosses borders, but I’d need to defer to experts before making such a leap.
