Galena is very nice in about a month or so when the fall weather starts to creep in. Summer was fun too with a kayak trip on the fever river a few years back when my wife and I went. We had our 20th last year and it was pretty low key due to everything being closed. With the kids getting older its becoming easier to get away for those short trips.

FWIW, both Galena and Door County can be difficult to book during "leaf season".

Galena rolls up the sidewalks at 8pm
