Why do you think he's dumb?
And why do you think he's the fazzah if he's fixed?

We fixed him after bringing him into house and getting him vetted. He was "ours" as soon as he decided to walk through our front door as far as responsibility goes. I can't explain it but he doesn't appear very observant or bright. trips over things, can't figure out a things the other cats do. These two cats... My hired guy says he saw someone driving a quad around with a bunch of cages in the back right before they showed up. Pretty sure a semi close neighbor dumped them which is aggravating.

let me specify.. To me he is the goofy huge headed tabby that flops on his side and asks for a belly rub. My daughter and wife are the ones telling me that he might have some mental issues.

Sounds like he just need glasses.

That’s great. Dogs are the best. Kids are ok too.

Its possible... Truth be told, I kind of like the idiot. I just can't let me wife and daughter and wife know.

Some of those adoption places need a reality check. When we were adopting a dog one place asked if I'd be willing to have a home inspection. Fuck no! Another place wouldn't let us get a puppy since we weren't home during the day. My wife and I both had dogs that lived to 14-15 years old. My wife and I both have advanced degrees and a considerable amount of responsibility in our careers but we don't meet the criteria for taking a shelter dog? Fuck them. I tell people to lie when getting a rescue dog. Tell them what they want to hear.

With all that said, we did get a rather awesome dog from Paws. He is a 15 lb terrier mix who is easily the best dog I've ever been around. He lets my kids do anything to him. He's friendly, never shown any aggression to anyone, has never messed in the house, never chewed up anything, he'll play, he'll lay on the couch for hours- just about a perfect dog. The only thing I could complain about is that he's obsessed with my wife and follows her everywhere. I'm going to get my own dog and make sure he bonds with me.

I think you take offense too easily. They ask about a home inspection but don’t follow through with it. It’s an understandable request though. Not everyone looking to adopt a dog is doing it out of the goodness of their heart. Saying no to the request is a bit of a red flag. I also side with them on the puppy part. Those adopt quickly and it’s understandable why they’d want somebody home during the day.

I agree and don't Zippy. I did the whole foster thing for a rescue 8 or 9 years ago. Had 4 dogs that eventually found homes come through our house. There was no reason the 6 month old dog that came to us should of been here for 8 months. his brother left in 2 weeks. The restrictions were ridiculous and even though I thoroughly agree with the mission I think they missed out on a few good homes. I also think the rescues have a ridiculous standard as far as being a foster. But whatever... I'll probably end up volunteering again. Maybe for one of the senior dog organizations.

We're about as awesome a dog family as there is and we missed out on a couple dogs my wife was looking at. The agencies can get a little weird.

I don’t doubt at all that you’re a good dog family but must ask - Why were you denied?

On some ways I get it. They are dealing with a lot of rejects dogs. The last thing they want is a dog coming back. But... Its a dog, not a faberge egg.

No, I don't take offense too easily. There are some snarky assholes on this forum and I will not accept any criticism from them and will respond with vigor. I suspect you are coupling my responses to them with this post I made. In terms of the dog shelter, they might want to rethink their screening practices. I'm not the only one they've angered with their questions, requests, and demands. And this came after interacting with several different shelters in the areas.

Good god Nas, there are hundreds of dogs within 20 miles of you sitting in shelters just waiting to be adopted. Adopt, don't shop.

you're not getting a pure bred lab at the shelter. At least it's very rare.

2 16 month old English Yellow lab brothers. Wish I could remember how to post a photo and I would.

Great dogs, they basically just beat the crap out of each other all day long and love it.

The problem is they are so rough with each other when I take them to the doggie forest preserve they double team dogs and play way too rough. Some dogs don't mind, but some start crying and freaking out. once I grab one and pull him away that settles everything down. They don't realize how intimidating/overwhelming it is for the two of them to be "attacking" another dog like they do to each other.

At daycare they have to be in separate groups because they are basically a roaming two dog gang.
