What does this mean? He retired earlier this year and became a counselor after retirement. Does that mean he didn't need help after watching so many people from his district take their lives and the stress of the job?

A cop, who was a coach in our program (not my team age group) killed himself in the forest preserve last week.

It means this problem is a hell of a lot worse than most people can imagine.

These suicides should be getting more attention and they need to get the help they need. It has to be mandatory.

I don't think police are interested in spilling their guts to some therapist who spent four years (minimum) on an American university campus being brainwashed and groupthink'd into hating police. They are counted on to do one of the most necessary, difficult and dangerous jobs in the USA and they're almost universally hated for it.

I know I couldn't stomach being "helped" by some clueless fool making three times what I make to do a bullshit job when you know they are going to crack wise about cops killing people with their rich liberal friends at dinner that night. If you think police aren't acutely aware of this dynamic and how alone they really are...well you're failing to understand why they are killing themselves at this rate

Kill yourself and maybe you will understand them better.
