I think Mike has gone at life pretty damn hard. Why is he wearing a stocking hat inside his home?

I will say this, I'm not sure what type of home Mike North has, but I have a house that was constructed during FDR's first term as president and I'll say this for architects/builders back then they had the amazing ability to design and construct a home that is freezing fucking cold in the winter, and hot as balls in the summer.

I'm constantly wearing a stocking hat inside. (Tip of the cap for "stocking hat" use. I think most people now use beanie, snow cap, ski cap, etc.)

Nice toque, eh.

Shady Acres keeps the heat at 70 degrees, you have to buy a space heater or bundle up if your cold, standard assisted living contract.

if I remember correctly, he had a place in dell web in huntley

I have no idea why he moved from park ridge, other than a need to downsize. The house was always too big for two people without kids

I don't know for certain.

But, if I had to guess, he probably wanted to get further away from you.

Is that a word? Sounds like a Mike North word.

Maybe you have too much interconnectedness.

It is a word.

I stand correctedness.

Maybe he wanted to hang out with Orion Samuelson, who has retired to that development.

of course it is

Is Orion Samuelson still alive, he seemed old 30 years ago.

Yes he is.

I can remember my Uncle Mike listening to him on the family farm in Dwight in the early 70's.

Goes back to the pre-internet, pre-Iphone, and pre-24/7 newschannel days when AM radio was the most immediate news source, remember going to WGN AM on snowy days and hoping to hear my school mentioned on the school closing list, the AM radio signal has almost become irrelevant, doubt any of the younger people in my family would even know how to find an AM radio station on an old AM transistor radio.

True, but a transistor radio is exactly complicated. If your younger people couldn't figure it out, that's a different problem.
