Mashed potato club sounds good as an idea but I'm a little bit of a traditionalist there. The new thing seems to be the Mac and Cheese places.

I've always wanted to try one of those places that have 6-8 variations. When I was a kid, my neighbor would tell her son to go get me whenever she really went all in on one because she knew I loved it and no one in my family made it.

I may make one next week.

My wife and I have made baked sweet potatoes a couple times the last month and we put taco fixings on top ( sour cream, shredded cheese, hot sauce ). Damn it is good.

My oldest son will be here tomorrow so I got stuff to make lobster Mac and cheese, and a 6lb standing rib roast(semi annual $5.99 a lb sale started at Jewels today), so Thanksgiving will be Sunday or Monday and non traditional.

Which is fine with me since I hate turkey.

Chicken Tortilla and Claim Chowder are go-tos. I tried Lobster Corn Chowder from Mariano's in Westchester while visiting for a weekend in February. That hit the spot on a really cold day. I wish they had a soup bar like that in our grocery stores.

I like a good borscht.

Tomato soup, with a liberal dosing of hot sauce, served at the temperature of the sun, makes for a great lunch at work. Finish it quickly and get back to it!

They invariably slip in some animal blood based soup or something they serve cold. It's mildly warm about one month per year there. Who's eating a chilled soup?

Does Bergoff have soup?

I like a couple of chilled soups. Some summer ones are pretty good.

I've never had a chilled soup.

Gazpacho can be tasty, occasionally.

French Onion running away with it here.

The French onion soup at Sorrento’s in between Sycamore and Saint Charles has a covering of thick cheese, and a piece of bread soaking in the soup.

So good.

zupa Tuscana from Olive Garden is excellent as well

Do they still make that in a factory in New Jersey and ship it around the country in huge bags?

Lol...I don’t know, my man.

But I don’t care how mass produced it is. Give me endless refills and breadsticks and I’m a happy man

Crick, you read my mind with regards to the Olive Garden soup. I'd also be inclined to say that soup and breadsticks are likely the best thing they offer at that place. Not a big soup guy generally but if you forced me to answer I would say that I have a hard time saying no to a good Clam Chowder, especially anytime during the fall or winter months.
