Do you really think an NFL player and a baseball player exert the same energy at the end of the game? Pitchers might depending on how many they throw but they take almost a week off too.

I didn't say anything about the amount energy exerted, and neither did you until now.

Isn't the actual action over the course of an NFL game about 15 minutes?

I wasn't being literal about 10 minutes of physical activity a game.

NFL players undoubtedly put in far more effort in a football game than non-pitchers do in a baseball game. That's why baseball teams can play two games in a row and play the next day too. Imagine three NFL games in 2 days. People think the Thursday games suck because there is only a 5 day difference.

A lot Thursday games do suck due to the lack of off days it seems.

Both MLB and NFL have a lot downtime between plays, however the pitch clock is helping that in baseball quite a bit.

If someone wants to say the MLB season at 162 games is too long, I won't disagree. But when you look at the length of their season and playoffs vs the NBA and NHL the latter is a complete joke.

That's kind of football's dirty secret. There's an extreme amount of time where the players are recovering from the last play and planning the next one. Also, while basketball and hockey have a lot of action, much of it is inconsequential.

Also why watching football in person kind of sucks. It’s a tv product that can replay what happened during all the time nothing happens.

The NFL needs to get rid of Thursday games, game 17/18 & the wild card round then start playing on Labor day since college is wasting it. February football is a joke, as well as the two week break before the SB.

I actually would rather them get rid of Monday Night Football. It’s the worst day of the week and it’s not an event like it used to be. But TNF has been pretty diluted as well.

agreed on the monday night football. it's horrible. thursday sucks to honestly. i wish they would just stick it to the college scene and do saturday night games. apparently its legal issue with contracts and such. i just know everyone, and i mean everyone that doesnt care about college games, wants saturday night NFL.

NBA would never go for this. Players like their summer vacations especially since it coincides with the kids getting out of school. At least for those who acknowledge and take care of their kids.
