Ridiculous to the end.

I don't understand a single point he was trying to make.

I loved North. His ego both created and destroyed the Score. I wish he would own up to his machinations in breaking up the golden era of the station and then trying to turn the station into a political talk station.

The Bernstein era is a direct response to the North era at the station. It is now at the opposite end of the spectrum. I am hoping for the same breakdown and the resulting synthesis of the thesis and antithesis.

He likes to say he didn't change. I'll will be hanging out with a close family member tonight. I'll run that by for a good laugh.

He was very definite in saying he is leaving sports radio, almost begging the question if someone is giving him a job in another format.

I assume how this played out is that the market finally came back enough where he could sell his Murphy Lake land and his Park Ridge home for sufficient value and he is getting out. I really cannot think of anything more depressing than ending life in Las Vegas.

He's on with Kap at 9:30. ESPN 1000. You should be tuned to that station anyway, Sparkles.

Remember that video of him selling the quiet atmosphere of the home and a fucking plane flew overhead?

Thanks, that will be some "must listen" radio.
That big Trib article on Kap gave me some new insight on the guy. I think I like him more now than before.

There was a long time here where a North thread was the number one needle mover at this place. His arc at this place was really very similar to that of Bernstein. There were huge show threads every day. Then they started to become negative. Then they started to become unreasonably negative. The negativity spawned creepy defenders (Keeping Score and stagecoach13). When he ventured beyond sports talk it was met with hate and then finally apathy.

How far back are you talking about? I've been on here kind of in the middle on North. I liked him but boy,did he screw himself hard.

You can buy a new strand for like $5. Why even even waste the time trying to fix them?

I was a very casual listener of sports radio back then. One morning I flip on The Score and North is talking to the sanitation commissioner from New York. I was confused.

At the start of the interview he said that political talk was ruining sports radio, but as you pointed out that is exactly the road he tried to take with his show.

North, Freddie Umbro, and {shudder} Anne Maxfield talking social and political issues. How did that not work?

I think a Light Keeper Pro costs $20. You can get a new string of 100 lights for $2.50 at Target or Walmart and the lights last a lot longer than they used to.

Kap asked him if he could do it over again, would he accept a pay cut from $1.5 million to $750,000 and North said "NO!"

After everything he's tried and failed at since leaving WSCR I have a hard time believing he's not kicking himself for turning down $750,000 a year and a steady gig.

He forgot where he came from. Without a deal from another station for his talents,he should have jumped at that and than rip them later in life like Chetster does about everyday.

Janice was the hottest one of Henry's 3

Janice..had bad skin and wore too much make-up. I mean, it didn't look very good. she looked beat-up. And the stuff she wore was thrown together and cheap. A lot of pant suits and double knits. And then she talked about how rotten their kids were and about beating them with broom handles and leather belts.

I believe that if he accepted that offer, he would still be on a station working today.

He turned down the Score at 750K ( I thought it was 800), which essentially set his asking price. No one was going to match it in the changed radio environment.

If he accepted the 750K, he could have continued to accept good offers that were pay cuts but still good money all the way down to the 300-500 Boers was making at the end. If Terry made it until 2017, North could have as well

North was way more controversial and likely to say something crazy enough to get him kicked off the air than Terry ever was.
