Just had some new neighbors move in a few houses down on our corner. I've lived there for 5 years and we haven't had but maybe one or two
move ins. In the past we haven't gone over and introduced ourselves or brought something over but my wife suggested we do it this time. Usually
I figure we will run into people in due time and possibly strike up a conversation with them. We really aren't friends with anyone on our street so
maybe this is a chance to try something different and see how it goes. For those of you in neighborhoods, condos or apartments, do people bring
over house warming gifts anymore? Do you do anything when you see someone new move in nearby? Just curious.

We've brought over baked good on occasion. Mostly I think it's common courtesy to introduce yourself at the first non-intrusive opportunity. That way you'll get a vibe as to whether they're interested in being sociable or would prefer to be left alone.

We've had a lot of turnover of houses in our neighborhood. We've brought over brownies to pretty much every new neighbor. It's always worked out well to at least say hello so you can wave to them as they drive by. Some have become friends with us and others don't really seem too interested which is fine. If anything, it gets over the awkward phase of not knowing someone and whether you will wave or not when you see them and feeling like a dope when you wave and they don't and you have been rejected like a pathetic freak.

That's right, Bob! Just go through life stiffing waiters and snubbing neighbors. As long as you bash Donald Trump, you're on the right side of history!

Give them brownies on a decent plate. See if they return it clean and promptly.

Also, what is the downside to introducing yourselves with a nice gift?

If you see them outside, walk over to the house and immediately punch the guy in the throat. You've got to show them who's in charge in the neighborhood. Then eat some ice cream in front of them.

I live in a 4 Plex townhouse subdivision. I don't even know my downstairs neighbors.

Our new neighbors across the street met my wife. She gets them clothes for their young daughters for birthdays and such.

They never met me.

THIS

I moved into my house 5 years ago...exactly how it went down. Some neighbors are more social and outgoing than others. Our neighbors next door are very nice, but definitely more introverted. Still....good people...just have to respect how they want to live.

I guess your wife said "we're all doing it" when you caught her pink handed.

It's important to get over there early if you need to turn them against other neighbors before they beat you to it.

Good chance there's a method lab (or two) between your house and theirs.
