Auto-formatting is the bane of my existence. I swear programmers just sit around and scheme ways to fuck with us.

On a similar note, when I cannot figure out technology I often overreact. I was at work once calling in sick and I couldn't figure out how to get an outside line (I rarely ever use their phone and I forgot my cell phone). I ended up cracking the LED display on the screen when I hit it with the receiver out of frustration. I gave a bullshit excuse about slipping and hitting it with my hand. No one ever said a word to me about it but I figure they knew what I did.

Bicyclists that are "sharing the road" yet roll right on through stop signs and stop lights as if they suddenly morphed back into pedestrians. Come to a complete stop already fuckers.

As if motorists don't run stop signs all the time. Anyway, the Idaho Stop will soon be law in Illinois. Then you can find something else that cyclists do to bitch about.

You can't defend the blatant disregard for the rules of the road by saying motorist ignore stop signs!!! Follow the rules and put on the brakes. This isn't a touch and go either, its generally at a 4 way stop and there is no attempt to stop at all. It's not cool at all to have a 4 way stop with a line and have a bike cruise through at 15 mph without ever stopping. Seems dangerous too.

I'm not saying some cyclists don't do that, but when they do, they are rarely endangering anyone but themselves. I ride everyday and I drive everyday and I see far more flouting of traffic rules by motorists. I guess maybe that's why your anger is irrational.

When I'm on my bike I'm not really afraid of being hit by someone on accident, I'm scared that some asshole is going to clip me on purpose out of his irrational anger that there is a cyclist with the audacity to actually put his legal road vehicle on the road.

my irrational anger:

the buick commercials theme music. that awful horn playing like a spasmic orchestral hit. whoever wrote that piece must have the musical ability of a deaf hyena.

Calling your elder "honey" (especially as a lame white girl) seems condescending. Makes me feel like she views me as some old dude in a nursing home drooling all over himself.

I got irrationally angry about it this morning.

There is nothing irrational about that. Perfectly cromulent to get upset about that. Fuck that bitch, she hasn't EARNED it.

I just rode twelve miles. I didn't see anything too egregious, just a couple guys refusing to use their directionals.

Here's an example of irrational behavior/anger by motorists. When you come to a stop light and you're the second car in line at the light and you want to turn right but the guy in front of you is going straight so you can't make your turn on red, you don't go nuts like a fucking lunatic. You sit and wait for the light to turn green and the first guy goes through the intersection and then you make your right turn. But if I'm on my bike and I'm the first guy at the intersection and I'm going straight, you expect me to move over to the right so you can illegally make a right turn on red around me.

Let's not pretend that a motorist's frustration with cyclists is anything other than what it is- some asshole in a car who wants to speed.

When I go food shopping I get the same thing almost every time. People walk in, grab a cart and then stop to read the sales ad. They block the only way in, completely oblivious. I used to say "excuse me" and they act like they dont know what the problem is. When there is a line of people blocked, I just yell " down in front" which makes no sense, but they get the point. Then i got the aisle blockers. These dopes put their cart sideways in an aisle when they are looking for something. If they dont move it after my first "excuse me" then i just move it for them. They get sooooo pissed that i touched their cart, but fuck them anyway. Adults that break open food and start eating anger me for some reason too. I guess the older I get, the less patience I have for this crap and the less I care about trying to be nice about this stuff.

My issue is that a large percentage of bike riders are pedestrians when it suits their purpose and motorists when it doesn’t. The bike trails by us have signs where they cross roads that say ‘must yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk. That doesn’t mean I have to yield to your wannabe Tour de France group when I’m trying to get home from work. The only thing that angers me more than inconsiderate bike riders is motorcycle riders. Toss all the motorcycles in the ocean and tie their owners to them.

I used to go at 4am to my local Woodmans on Saturday mornings before heading out to golf. The last month I have been going on Friday at 3:30
after work. It tests my patience quite a bit more but it is almost an mental exercise for me. I know exactly what I need when I go in there and
can usually escape in 30 minutes or less. People getting in the way is annoying but hasn't been a major problem in the early afternoon. Once
golf is over I will go back to doing the early morning time where the only things I need to worry about are the shelf stockers and all the empty boxes in
the aisles.

The deli counter at supermarkets is ground zero for the line cutting movement. You have to throw elbows and shit.

The supermarket is the absolute worst. Places like Jewel have those aisles so narrow that it's nearly impossible to navigate down an aisle with your cart if you're in there on a Saturday or Sunday. I usually just park my cart somewhere outside the aisle and walk down to grab what I need and then walk back and throw it in the cart. Too many idiots just park side by side and make it impossible to pass through with your own shopping cart.

i usually go grocery shopping on saturday morning, and while I obv can't manage to do it all the time, I try to go super early. I go to Pete's and they open at 7, if you go at like 7:30 there is hardly anyone there at all and it is glorious

same. i put it in a neutral area around shit that has a low percentage probability of being shopped. like in front of racks of soda. normally if people want to buy that, they go into the soda aisle.

deli counters are the worst. years ago when i lived on the east coast we went to a store that had a brilliant process: it was a machine, set up like an atm. all you did was put in your order, and pick it up when it was ready. no standing around, waiting for aunt elsie and uncle fucker order 6 pounds of different meats & cheeses, portioned out in 1/4 and 1/8 pound orders.

I agree. The worst place to me, though, is Costco, especially on week-ends. All of the bleeping food "vendors" giving out samples of their products. I swear half of the people in the place are there to eat. Dozens of snot nosed kids running around like rats stuffing their faces with crap and their parents parking their carts in the aisles and not letting shoppers through. I swear to God that you have to deal with the ugliest and ignorant people at Costco and Walmart.

As if motorists don't run stop signs all the time. Anyway, the Idaho Stop will soon be law in Illinois. Then you can find something else that cyclists do to bitch about.

It is very rare for me to see a motorist run a stop sign.

I go grocery shopping early in the morning solely to avoid things like this. What also irritates me are people who walk alongside their shopping cart, pulling it alongside them and taking up the entire aisle, instead of pushing it from behind like it's meant to be used.

Hank Scorpio wrote:

That is true and the reason so many people have a gripe with cyclists is because so many of them behave that way. It's not a coincidence or unjustified. I usually ride in the forest preserve, but the times I do ride in residential areas and there are other cyclists around I sometimes get a "What are you doing?" look when I come to a stop at a red light or slow down/stop at a stop sign when there are cars around.

Able-bodied people who park in a Tow/Fire Zone outside the front of a store because they are "just going in for one thing" tick me off. They are actually parking about 20' or 30' closer to the entrance than people (legitimately) parking in handicapped spots.
