The drive in this morning was pretty awful. Hillside, Elmhurst, Bellwood, Westchester, and Berkeley seemed to not plow their streets at all. And there were plenty of jagoffs in their SUV's driving like jagoffs because they had jagoff 4WD. Those are the jagoffs that cause accidents.

No, the jagoffs causing accidents are the assholes in Volkswagen hatchbacks with LED lights that cause seizures or something.

Also, yes, the drive in did completely suck.

That "storm" was weak.

Will Mother Nature be laying dormant for the rest of this so called Winter or is her uterus shot and polluted from the last two hellish Winters? I need snow, I need cold, I need overcast days....it is in my nature.

Maybe this should go in the conspiracy thread, but my theory is that the state and various municipalities are so fucking broke that they have cut back plowing and salting drastically. I doubt anyone will admit that, but it sure didn't seem like there were many trucks out there last night.

Most years that might be a valid point, Orr. But this year, they have barely had to use salt or plows at all yet. If anything, most areas should be way ahead on snow removal expenses.

Yeah, you would think. But it's still shitty out there and it really didn't snow that much. Maybe it's worse further west, but where I am at least the first few hours of the stuff pretty much melted as it hit the ground.

This is exactly what I said to my wife upon returning from bowling last night. During most snow storms, route 59 is always plowed and salted, and travel isn't a problem. One of the busiest roads in the area was like a side street in the back of a subdivision. It looked like a truck had not been through in hours.

A friend of my drives a plow (not IDOT... just works on contract with the city when needed) and he told me last year that the costs of salt and gas have risen enough to the point where what JORR suggests is absolutely true. Now most side companies will wait until snow actually stops before they send their guys out.

I'd like you to tell me how mine are seizure inducing.

Where in my little diatribe did I use the phrase "IMU's Hot Hatch with Seizure Inducing LED Lights"?

Route 83 in Wood Dale/Bensenville/EGV area was terrible with black ice. Started sliding a littleI was getting to corner of 83 and Thorndale but no accidents. People at work want to go out later for drinks but I think I'm going home.

No U.S. Volkswagen hatchbacks come with LED tail lights. If you're not referring to mine, than who's?

I referred to no one specific. I am working in generalities. You need to stop being so damn sensitive. Do you need a Midol or something?

. WINTRY MIX AND SNOWFALL POSSIBLE LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY...

WITH MILD TEMPERATURES AND AN INCREASE IN MOISTURE OUT AHEAD OF AN APPROACHING SURFACE LOW... LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE... AND FOG WILL DEVELOP ACROSS MUCH OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA THIS EVENING. THIS SURFACE LOW WILL THEN MOVE EAST THROUGH THE AREA OVERNIGHT TONIGHT WITH AN ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT USHERING IN MUCH COLDER AIR... PROVIDING A TRANSITION TO A WINTRY MIX AND THEN SNOW ON TUESDAY.

CURRENT INDICATIONS ARE THAT THIS LIGHT RAIN OR DRIZZLE MAY CHANGE TO LIGHT FREEZING RAIN FOR FREEZING DRIZZLE FOR A SHORT TIME TONIGHT AND VERY EARLY TUESDAY MORNING FOR AREAS NORTHWEST OF A LINE FROM APPROXIMATELY LASALLE TO THE NORTHERN CHICAGO SUBURBS. OTHERWISE A TRANSITION FROM RAIN TO ALL SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR FROM NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST THROUGH MID MORNING TUESDAY FOR ALL AREAS IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

BEFORE THE SNOW ENDS TUESDAY AFTERNOON... A FEW INCHES OF ACCUMULATION CAN BE EXPECTED... ESPECIALLY NORTH OF INTERSTATE 80 WITH THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS EXPECTED NEAR THE WISCONSIN BORDER. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TUESDAY MORNING WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 30 MPH AT TIMES... ESPECIALLY NEAR LAKE MICHIGAN... CAUSING BLOWING SNOW.

DETAILS REGARDING FREEZING RAIN POTENTIAL AND SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL CONTINUE TO BE REFINED AND PERSONS PLANNING TRAVEL ACROSS THE REGION LATE TONIGHT AND TUESDAY SHOULD CLOSELY MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. The other annoying part of caps, is that unlike fonts, bold, italics, you can't "select all" and uncap them.

There are many tropical areas of Nepal that almost never receive snow...and have temperatures regularly reaching into the upper 90's and lower 100's through their summer months.

Not those parts. I guess I shouldn't have assumed that you would know that.

The weather is yelling at us again...
Quote:
... WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN CHICAGO HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.

* TIMING... SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AROUND DAYBREAK FRIDAY AND QUICKLY SPREAD ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS... INCLUDING THE CHICAGO METRO AREA... BY LATE FRIDAY MORNING. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING... TAPERING OFF TO LIGHT SNOW OR FLURRIES BY EARLY SATURDAY MORNING.

* ACCUMULATIONS... STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS IN EXCESS OF 6 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE.

* HAZARDS... THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS LIKELY TO FALL FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON INTO EARLY FRIDAY EVENING... WHEN SNOWFALL RATES OF UP TO ONE INCH PER HOUR ARE POSSIBLE. ROADS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN IF THESE SNOWFALL RATES MATERIALIZE. TRAVEL ACROSS NORTHERN ILLINOIS WILL BECOME DIFFICULT AND PERHAPS DANGEROUS.

* IMPACTS... ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL CAUSE SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED TRAVEL TIMES FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BE FALLING DURING THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND FRIDAY EVENING RUSH HOUR COMMUTE. DELAYS AT CHICAGO AREA AIRPORTS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET... OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

My father in law is coming in from Florida today. I'm sure he will spend the whole weekend complaining about the weather.

Looking as bad or possibly worse just over the northern border. 3-5 inches of snow and pretty damn cold temps.
Perfect to lay over all the ice that the county hasn't taken very good care of.

The salt money has been increased because WI doesn't have to waste money throwing the packers a silly parade 8)
