People do not want to admit how weird and aggressive this guy was being. There is a rush to turn him into a hero. He got someone fired over a stupid confrontation that he started. Now he's a darling on NPR.

That doesn't match his portrayal in media, which has been that of some sort of hero.

I agree with the assessment that both of these people are Actually Bad. This incident really shouldn't have achieved the place it did in the public consciousness.

Weird and aggressive?

Yeah, the bird watcher was being weird and aggressive.

By the way, dog owners in Central Park are required to have a leash on them except in designated areas. Maybe he suspected her of a crime?

He can be an asshole and Karen can be an idiot. Both can be true.

As Rick said earlier, if her call to the police simply said something to the effect of, "I'm in Central Park and there is a man wearing Xcolor shirt and Ycolor shorts and I feel he is threatening me and might be trying to lure my dog or feed it," then this story is a non issue.

You are dishonest as you are vapid. Remember when you had this episode where you said guys should not go up to girls and talk to them on the Metra. This guy threatened a woman alone in the park. He said something about her dog not being on a leash, and then tried to get the dog to come to him. That's causing a confrontation no matter what way you want to put it.

And trying to wrestle a gun away from someone, and returning to a place where you already had a confrontation with strangers and had the police called on you is a good way to start a confrontation. Pro tip for you: if someone has a gun and you don't trying to punch them and take the gun is a bad idea.

Confronting a guy on foot in your car with loaded guns is not aggressive but telling a person who has an unleashed dog it should have a leash is aggressive?

I don't remember that thought specifically about guys hitting on girls on trains but yeah, that's not something you should do unless it happens naturally or if you are really good looking.

To call this guy weird and aggressive but not to view the two guys that ended up shooting Arbery dead similarly is pretty hypocritical to me.

sorry dude, but as a dog owner the poison angle is absolutely the first thing that would come to my mind if someone without a dog was telling me to put my dog on a leash and then a second later tried to lure my dog to him with a treat he pulled out of his pocket. We hear stories all the time about people finding hot dogs with nails in them at dog parks or on lawns in neighborhoods. Just read one a few days ago.

If someone is telling me to put my dog on a leash and then later is trying to call my dog over to him and lure him to him I would 100% assume that person intended to harm my dog.

I guess so, but seems pretty risky when you know someone is recording you.

If in a real situation not this ridiculous one that would not be the call I make. If I was really in dire circumstances I would give as much detail as possible. Example: I am being followed for the last three blocks by a 6 foot plus, athletically built, (white/black/asian/latino) woman that seems to have a gun.

If she had just followed the rules she wouldn't have had any problems. I'm not sure what's so difficult about that.

It's also important to note that the attempt to lure the dog over with treats was apparently immediately preceded by the "I'm going to do what I want to do, and you're not going to like it" line. In that context his actions would certainly sound like a threat to even a cautious dog owner (whether they actually constitute a threat is a different question).

If we entertain that thought though, she didn't say that to either the guy or the police and she didn't act like she thought her dog was in danger.

This is the third out of context conversation in the past 4 days btw. I never said confronting Arbery wasn't weird or aggressive. You just want to scream racist and play racism police. You just don't want to admit that there was any reason to confront Arbery when he had been prowling in the neighborhood for weeks if not months.

Didn't she tell the dispatcher that the guy was threatening her and her dog? And didn't she tell the guy that she was going to say that to the police? If so, that means she told all parties involved that she felt threatened by the guy and, implicitly, his actions up to that point.

Juicy I'm sure when the 8th graders beat you up after school and you say you are calling the cops, you make sure to include the complete description that will go out over the air when you are threatening that.

Are you saying the guys who confronted Arbery were acting weird and aggressive? I took your post as to say that they were in the right to go after him with guns loaded and didn't do anything wrong in trying to stop a suspected criminal and it was actually he was acting weird and being aggressive.

I will be more than happy to admit I misrepresented your post if you do say that you think the guys who confronted Arbery were in fact being weird and aggressive and were wrong to start that confrontation.

I only watched the video once, but I don't recall that part of the confrontation being recorded. So you don't know if she felt like her dog was being threatened. The way she is holding the dog with a death grip might be because she was worried that if she let the dog go the dog might go to the guy and be harmed.

Why she didn't mention that to the cops is a mystery, but we all need to keep in mind that we are dealing with a person acting crazy so expecting normal thought process from that person might not be realistic.

I said that while they should not be playing cop when more information came out it was at least understandable why they did and why they were armed:

Quote:
It was Travis McMichael's call that night that summons the police to the scene. McMichael told authorities he spotted the individual going into the home. He's gasping for breath so much so it worries the operator.

Operator: "Are you okay?"

Travis: "Yeah, yeah it just startled me. When I turned around and saw him and backed up he reached into his pocket and ran into the house so I don’t know if he is armed or not, but he looked like he was acting like he was."

So, was confronting Arbery weird or aggressive, because calling their actions "understandable" indicates to me that you didn't find it weird or aggressive?

It's clearly aggressive, and it's not ideal. But I understand why they did it. Do you want someone prowling around your house? A grown man with a record including bringing a gun to a school and theft?

It's also important to note that the attempt to lure the dog over with treats was apparently immediately preceded by the "I'm going to do what I want to do, and you're not going to like it" line. In that context his actions would certainly sound like a threat to even a cautious dog owner (whether they actually constitute a threat is a different question).
If we entertain that thought though, she didn't say that to either the guy or the police and she didn't act like she thought her dog was in danger.
Didn't she tell the dispatcher that the guy was threatening her and her dog? And didn't she tell the guy that she was going to say that to the police? If so, that means she told all parties involved that she felt threatened by the guy and, implicitly, his actions up to that point.

No she didn't you lying fuckface. the whole call is on the fucking internet you dumbass. none of that ever happened you ignoramous. So take your "if so that means..." and shove it up your pasty pimpled ass you fuckhead. get back to pretending to be a lawyer on a sports message board so you can amuse me, fucking krusty clown motherfucker.
