PS Vue shutting down. As predicted, the money savings will be short term unless you just give up on watching tv.

Sucks for Sony, but I switched to YouTubeTV $49.99/month gets me all of my local channels and pretty much anything I watch.

Hulu live has been decent, but you need Locast (free) to get WGN.

What does WGN even have now?

There were baseball games I couldn’t watch on Hulu, but I guess Cubs wise, that is over now.

Youtube tv is going to get squeezed out too though.

YouTube TV has been awesome for me and my family, no regrets at all about leaving cable behind.

I'm sure Youtube is monetizing this beyond just the subscription price angle.

YouTube was far superior to anyone else when I gave it some thought. Best picture quality and more channels.

I've enjoyed PlayStation Vue. Although I'm reconsidering DirecTV. DirecTV was pretty reasonable on the intro offers because they didn't charge local broadcast fees or for the equipment. Some of these other services don't work so well if you want to watch 5 TVs at once.

I just bought 2 hd antennas and cut cable, I mostly watch Netflix and Amazon( both free) the HD antenna picks up local channels.

How are your Netflix and Amazon free?

I'm a prime member for Amazon and I use a friend's Netflix account.. I believe you can watch Netflix on 5 devices at one time.

So you're stealing one, and paying $100 for the other?

My brother in law added us to his "family account" through youtube tv, so we have it. I just wish there was History Channel. We have Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Still have Xfinity too. We'll be adding Disney+ with the Hulu and ESPN+ options. I may cut at that point.

I believe that you can download the History Channel app for free.

I think we are kinda getting to that point as well. I have Amazon(more for the shipping), Netflix, Hulu, and Comcast. The bottleneck in all of this is the internet. I wish some of these companies had some type of bundle package.

I found that it was more expensive to cut the cord. You still have to pay for internet. When you add all of the cost of all of the other services you end up getting fewer entertainment options for more money. There are delays that force you to avoid social media and glitches that make you want to kill someone.

IF you are married or live with someone then playing the promotion game makes the most sense. Get a promotion in your name and a month before the promo is going to expire cancel the service and have your wife or husband start service with a promotion in their name. Repeat this process until you're dead or divorced.

And I'm stuck without cable internet access, so we pay $70 per month for service as slow as 4mbps. I come in from the barn to watch a little TV to find the wife on her laptop and scrolling FB on her phone, and son playing video game on his desktop, watching someone else playing video game on his laptop and scrolling on his phone, with enough bandwidth left for Dad to basically look at still pictures of the MNF game. Drives me right back to SportsRadio: our savior, the cause and solution to most of life's problems!!!

We are just in a unique situation since we are getting youtube tv for free, basically. I would save around $60 month by cutting, while adding Disney+.

The best thing to do with all of these streaming services is to have a family where you divy up responsibilities on them. I pay for my YouTubeTV and then cover HBO for the family. My parents and brothers then do Netflix, Prime, Hulu, and now Disney+ It works well. 8)

I'm giving this a shot. when you call to cancel do you have to wait until your service is officially off before you try to activate the new service or can i cancel and immediately call to activate the new service?

I've done it the same day. You will have to turn in your old equipment and they will have to install new equipment if you can't hook it up yourself. That basically means that you can't fall in love with your DVR.

not off to a great start.... signed up online under my name for a new internet plan... log in to my new acccount and everything looks correct.... then when i logged in to my wife's account it says i agreed to a new 1 yr contract today which is not at all true, all i can think is the same address caused issues... will need wife to call later to correct. it is defnitely two separate account numbers.

call comcast once a year and tell them you want to end service, they'll offer you a discount to stay.

Not that this is specific to this thread but it is something that gives me pause. I like to watch what I want when I want to. So for one reason or another I have hulu free, prime, roku free and netflix in addition to my Fios lineup.

I am late to the party on Chicago PD and I sort of like it as well as my friend is an extra in it. At any rate trying to start this series from day one and watch straight until now seems an impossibility. I even put a NBC free app on my tv and no go. Seems that you can either get the old stuff and the new but there are holes in seasons. Or you have to pay for old tv shows (not happening).

Just seems like companies (NBC in this story) are screwing with people.
