For better or worse back when BF had the board some of the things done would have lead to long term penalty box if not out right perma ban.The IMu-Chus thing would have defiantly lead to IMU being gone for a long long time and the cabal around the stuff with me the same, I seem to remember one of the wisemen getting into a huge tiffy just because his inclusion in a group photo at a board outing was posted on the board with out his permission. Then as I was not paying attention there was some personal info posted on the board a week or so ago,even though it was taken down where the perpetrators banned as we where told would be done after the last incident ,or as is usual they are friends with the admins and it was all pohhh-poohed.
We have gone from guys hanging at the bar to Salesmen in a Used car lot going after each other tooth and nail. The other thing is while it may seem to be a good thing for total hands off moderation,it usually in the long term kills a board because abusive posters drive away the more moderate posters.People come to a place like this for entertainment not for thread after thread post after post of the same couple of guys having the same argument. Sometimes the admins need to step in and do their jobs.
No one had, or has ever had, an accurate read on what bigfan's reaction would be to any board 'misdeed', or perceived slight. Bigfan banned people for things that never happened, and completely turned a blind eye to things that upset the majority of the board, depending on his own likes and dislikes.
You honestly think Bigfan would have banned me because of something I said about Chus' kid? BECAUSE it would have been about Chus' kid, Bigfan might have sent me some free Cubs tickets or something. Now had I mentioned another board member's kid possibly misbehaving, one of bigfan's butt buddies, I would assuredly have been banned. Bigfan responded to the poster versus the post more often than anyone here.
