I have gone the day after Thanksgiving and the 1st week of December. Crowds were pretty light other than Thanksgiving weekend.

Actually, I have been to 6 parks currently (counting a water park and Disney Springs - which does have a couple of rides). Disneyland will be 7. Eventually, I'll get to Disneyland Paris. We were supposed to go but it poured the day we had scheduled...so we cafe'd and drank instead.

We did BOG for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was better.

We have been going with Rachel's brother, wife, and two nieces. It's fun with the kids. The wife and I usually are able to break away for a day or so and do our own thing. I owe her a few trips before I can go back. I'll probably wait until Star Wars land is complete...late 2018 or early 2019 at this point.

My advice for Disney is if you go in the summer, don't be fat.

Extend your stay and spend a day or two on site.

We had been to Disney before but we did a conference and stayed offsite and it just wasn't the same experience. Driving in and out of Disney on a day trip is still fun though if that is your only option.

My advice is to go during gay appreciation week. We accidentally did and the lines were short because most of the "south" avoids that week if you catch my drift*.

I went there for a conference a few years back. It was the best "work" experience I've ever had.

I asked out of interest, not as a setup.

I've had fun at Disney with the kids. They seem to have matured into Universal and I doubt we ever visit either as a family again. I'd take my grandchildren should I be so blessed.

I think Hershey is a very underrated resort/theme park experience but nothing beats Disney for immersion in a fantasy world.

Heading to Disneyworld this December and we just got the official bill and packet from the travel agent. Mother of god... I still don't know how the wife convinced me. The worst part is we are keeping it a secret from the kids until the day of and I can't use the trip as a carrot to keep them in line.
So you are the one guy still using travel agents? Has Indiana not gotten the internet yet?

Its a Disney Travel Concierge. It doesn't cost us anything. I went thru and priced it myself and it was the same. The only difference is that she does everything for my lazy ass.

I'll allow it.

I was just imagining you walking into the place in a strip mall that simply says "Travel" and then flipping through brochures like you are back in the 80s and then saying "Dial the phone and see about this place in Orlando!".

if you need any recommendations for dining, just ask. I've eaten at half of the restaurants...and the other half, I know someone who has.

to be fair Brick...if you've never done Disney before, it's best to talk to someone who has. especially if you stay on property.

Since we have 5 people we couldn't stay at the value resort so we are at the Polynesian. We did the dining plan, I didn't want to but again the wife talked me into it.

Have you eaten at the Be Our Guest place? one of our girls is obsessed with Belle so we were wondering if it was cool or not.

Is that eating in the Castle? If so, then definitely do it.

Yeah, when my wife brought it up I had your same reaction.  So when we got the quote, I went thru on the Disney website myself and priced everything that was included myself and it was the same price.

I asked her how the woman gets any money for all this and she said Disney pays her directly. Granted she does try to push extras on you and in our case we went with a more expensive resort based on the presentation she sent us. So Disney got their money's worth from her. I would have booked cheapest everything.

Poly is fucking great. if you can get into the Fiji longhouse facing west, that is the best building (view) by far. I have eaten at BOG twice. It's pretty cool. I would go for dinner. it's 2 dining credits, so be aware of that. Cinderella's Castle it pretty cool too if you want to meet the Princesses.

I can understand doing Disney on a dime, but we always go Deluxe and spend crazy money. Usually between $5k-6k after everything...and it's just the two of us.

oh, and being at Poly you'll be able to watch Wishes (fireworks with audio) from Trader Sam's grotto. It's pretty awesome.

We did Polynesion a few years back. Wife took the Daughter to the be our guest dinner with some princess or another.. I can't remember I was dealing with a sick boy and his brother who was being a turd back at the hotel room. The wife and daughter had a good time. Pretty sure my boy almost punched Stitch during our character breakfast at the Poly..

I forget where we were going to book and then we watched the video on the Polynesian and we both just said YOLO and decided to spend money we don't really have. We also looked at the prices for the Bippity Boppity Salon. Holy shit, why did we have twins??

The fly/drive thing is our current stalemate. She wants to fly for convenience, I want to drive because I'm a cheap bastage.

My wife went to the Poly as a kid so that is where we had to go. It is not cheap but we got a great deal on travel that time so it kind of balanced out.

fly.

and if you do, you'll get magical express through Disney. free Disney bus transport to your resort and back to Orlando airport. you can ignore your bags minus carry-on. Disney will take your bags from O'Hare (or wherever) and drop off your bags in your room by 4pm. So, pack what you need for the day in carry-on and GO TO THE PARKS!!!

did you do Park Hopper passes?

Best pork chop I have ever had in my life was at Be Our Guest. Its a cool atmosphere and really good food. Totally worth it, Hank. And The Polynesian is awesome.
