I won both NASCAR contests about 6 or 7 years ago.

That might've been the last time I paid attention.

Do Dale Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace still drive?

Bump as a reminder if you want to pick your horsey for Saturday, you need to do it by noon.

Scratch two-thirds of the field and Village King scores his first victory on American soil. Followed by Soglio and Control Group. Don't forget to get those NASCAR picks in by noon tomorrow.

Until the race starts, let it be known that boyd was winning this challenge!

Yes they are -- that was my test to see if you were paying attention. You passed the test!

A very close competition again -- JORR picked the top four finishers, but it wasn't enough to overcome the winner's advantage of donspiracy. Out of his seven picks, his very last one, Joey Logano, went on to win the race and save him seven points. At the end of the day, he just nosed out JORR by a point. Congrats to donspiracy on retaining immunity! Special mention for sjboyd being the only player to avoid picking up any penalty points -- good job!

Voting is on and votes are due by Tuesday at 8PM. We'll do the vote-off then, and go on a Thanksgiving break with the next challenge the week after Thanksgiving. At least one hidden idol is still available in this thread somewhere... if you are feeling nervous about the vote, you have some time to hunt for it. No guarantee that you will of course, so you'll probably want to work your alliances as well. Good luck to all!

The votes have been cast, and are ready to be tallied. Is there anyone who wants to play a hidden immunity idol? In that case, I will begin to tally the vo -- what, hold on -- JORR would like to play an immunity idol. After close inspection, this is a valid hidden immunity idol -- votes against JORR will not count. I will now begin to tally the votes. The first vote is for the bearded one, MMB. Vote #2 is also cast against MMB. The third vote is cast against JORR - it will not count. Vote #4 comes in and is cast for JORR as well - it does not count. MMB still with 2 votes and three to go. The fifth vote has been cast for... MMB. MMB, you are the next contestant that has been voted out onto the jury... you have three votes and with only two to go, you are eliminated. Thanks for playing - you have done an admirable job out there in this dog-eat-dog contest. Vote 6 was for JORR as well as vote 7. JORR's bloodhound like nose for hidden immunity idols has now saved him twice in this contest!

We will take a Thanksgiving hiatus and resume with announcement of a challenge on Sunday or Monday. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving break!

It's Challenge Time Again! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving break... time to get back into the Survivor swing. There are two big games on Wednesday night on ESPN and ESPN2 in college hoops. #23 Purdue takes on #14 Florida State and #7 North Carolina goes up against #18 Michigan. Let's do some basketball predictions!

In this challenge, you'll pick one of the sides in the games. For your first selection, you will get a +8 bonus point applied to your side. The next will be a +7, etc. all the way down to a +1. A win is worth 1 point, a tie is a half, and a loss is 0, as you might expect. You can only pick one side in each of the games.

The games we will be looking at are:
Virginia @ Maryland
Northern Illinois @ Green Bay
Cleveland State @ DePaul
BYU @ Illinois State
Northern Iowa @ Utah State
Purdue @ Florida State
Georgia Tech @ Northwestern
North Carolina @ Michigan

donspiracy retains his advantage from last challenge and can choose from one of these:
* Add The Hook: Instead of going from +8 to +1, you'll go from +8.5 to +1.5.
* Direct Challenge: In your submission, call out a single other contestant as a challenger. Whoever has the most correct out of their top 3 picks will get a 0.7 bonus. If tied, all other players will get a 0.3 bonus.
* Mister Manipulator: In your submission, declare a single other contestant and three of the teams. If he has picked one of those teams, his choice will be flipped to the opposition. I will not disclose who had their teams flipped, if any.

TB1: Winner of UNC/Michigan (no spread)
TB2: Total points in UNC/Michigan
TB3: Margin of Victory in UNC/Michigan

Picks due by Wednesday at 6PM. Send them in as usual to CFMBSurvivor@email.com -- Good luck!

It was nice to see everyone backing DePaul!

EDIT: Hold the fort -- I'm hearing there may be a delay in the email processing at the legendary email.com -- we may have a 6th entry.
EDIT 2: Yes, some technical issues at email.com it looks like -- don is in after all, and he is adding the hook to his spreads.

UPDATE:

The hook advantage paying off well, turning two 0.5 games into two 1 point games. Still everyone is in it. Brick tied with the leaders and still has his top two to go, maybe a slight lead there.

donspiracy retains immunity for a third consecutive week!!

Image

If BYU had scored one more point, Dr. Ken would have won with his copypasta entry as he had the second tiebreaker. Boilermaker Rick and JORR also narrowly missing perfection... Brick would have had the tiebreaker, I'm not sure if JORR would have or not, but I am too lazy to look up the score.

This marks the end of the immunity carryover advantage. It has surely helped don the past two weeks; I'd have to look back if anyone else benefited from it. But when we get down to the final five, there's no room for advantages. Your game needs to carry you over the finish line.

This is also the last vote that you are allowed to play a hidden immunity idol. If you have one, you should play it. If you have more than one, consider playing an extra for someone else. If you are still looking for one, there's one unclaimed still here in this thread... a small hint, you will find it sooner in the thread than later. Happy hunting! And BTW, there have been some fun guesses, but all the idols are talked about in this thread -- so while Franksgiving would have been a good keyword, it wasn't posted here and isn't an idol word.

Votes are due by Friday at 7pm at cfmbsurvivor@email.com. don votes will not be counted. I'll rollout the next challenge immediately after with a Sunday noon deadline most likely, so be ready for that... we will be down to five with only one challenge to go after that. Good luck to all!

I'd like to call for Robert Mueller to investigate this "late entry" situation.

One more thing I forgot to say -- there is a possibility that all the votes will be cast for people who are ineligible due to the immunity idols. If that happens, we will have a revote with only the the eligible contestants as vote targets, but all will get to revote.
