That the older website is labeled uncool and everyone jumps ship. Clearly, the existing website would have the advantage with loyalty, habits, familiarity, being saved to everyone's favorites, etc.

There was more than enough of a critical mass to sustain MSFMB at the beginning and everyone was essentially the same. There were even celebrities like Goff's sister to draw in even bigger crowds.

Seriously, though, I disagree. There are many who did not care for the moderator, but the board is not the same as the moderator. The best thing about this board is the diversity of thought and the relationships among members. The content isn't made by the moderator; it is made by the people. A true Democracy, if there ever was one.

I disagree that the board is not the moderator. This place is not singular but it is definitely uncommon. All of that diversity of opinion was facilitated by one person's management. The board may not BE the moderator but it is a reflection of the moderator.

GD, in all of this I don't see you addressing the core of some of the complaints: that folks were kicked off the site for no reason other than the typical back and forth that goes on between countless other posters every single day (focusing here on sane, rational posters). Seems like you are implying in a sort of post-fact rationalization that those who've been banned must have deserved it.
