Diversity requires assimilation.
Then that wouldn't really be diversity, would it? At a minimum it then leads to the question that Killer V asked above.
I don't see how you can have diversity if those people aren't interacting a good portion of the time.
But that gets into what we mean by "diversity". You'd have to be a real asshole to want everyone to have the same skin color as you, eat the same food as you, pray to the same god as you. But I don't think it's evil to not want people who think blacks should use separate restrooms, who think women are the property of men, etc. Should we accept those people and their ideas for the sake of "diversity"?
Diversity doesn't mean accepting all ideas. It means being welcoming to all and trying to give people of all types the same access your own demographics would get.
There is clearly a certain political orthodoxy that will paint one as a bigot or a racist simply for questioning the wisdom of welcoming those with certain ideas or philosophies that are clearly in conflict with the values most of us claim to hold dear..
And personally, I don't even have a problem with anyone's reprehensible ideas. The problem only occurs when they take the next logical step and begin acting on those ideas. But that can't happen to any great degree without accommodation.
