I always figured his great grandfather (since he's the 3rd) was a fan of PGT Beauregard, which makes sense in late 19th century, early 20th century south. That is probably the actual origin of the name.

Don't forget the Jefferson (Davis) part.

He is the 21st century embodiment of the worst of the old style southerner, imo. States' rights first and always, until it doesn't serve their limited purposes

Come on, though. I get that the guy's name is like that of a cartoon Southerner, but he didn't name himself. There's plenty to dislike about the guy that he's actually responsible for without mocking his name. I never liked when his opponents always made a point of saying Barack Hussein Obama either.

This guy's nothing compared to his cousin, Freedom Con Sessions.

Anyone with a middle name of Beauregard has to be racist, right?

I agree that he didn't name himself. it just gives a context to his upbringing and on its own means nothing, but next to some of the statements he is on record of making does mean something.

I at least give him credit for not passing the name onto his son.

“I watch with fascination — with incredible fascination — all the stories about how the Democratic politicians, especially Hillary [Rodham Clinton], are trying to whip up the African-American vote and say, ‘Oh, the Republicans have policies against black people in terms of the economy.’ But there are no such policies,” he said. “It’s all a way to racialize voting in this country.

Obama is the most racist president there has ever been in America. He is purposely trying to use race to divide Americans.”

Uh, last time I checked you were bitching about the idea of making higher education available to a greater swath of Americans.

Against education I see.

Yup. It's in the Constitution.

He did a number of baby racist steps in and around Marion, Alabama, an unfortunate spot I was often dragged to in my yout'. He played up the name at all times without having to resort to a knowing wink and smile. At least until he started to worry about a profile outside places like Perry County, Alabama. Their shared home & history is how Coretta Scott King knew & despised him so much.

 I don't think you meant it that way, but my first impression is that you were saying he was born a racist.
