We have done it the last five years, and Pepe will return again this summer.

Yeah my daughter is working on Spanish. I was told that she would take a giant leap after the trip.

 @ Hawg.

We did when I was a kid. A French girl of Algerian descent who oddly didn't speak nearly enough English to be here for a month. The initial saving grace was that she easily would have passed for my sister.

It took her awhile to get comfortable. She got flat out irate when we first went out to dinner and couldn't have a glass of wine. Her daily routine and needs were completely different from ours and she didn't really warm up until she got to wandering around Hyde Park with me where she could buy a few things from home. In fairness, we probably could've been a lot better prepared.

Despite all we went through, she was oddly sad when we took her to O'Hare. Fwiw, my sister right then decided that she didn't want to be sent to France. (Probably for the best)

Oddly my parents and I were just talking about her 2 weeks ago

I can empathize with that.

When I was managing temp waiters we worked a prom at the Field Museum and I had one of my girls who was from Bulgaria tending one of the "bars". She was setting up the station and had all this different pop. She asked me where the booze was and I started laughing. I said, "This is a high school prom. There is no booze." She said, "Well, that sucks. We had booze at my high school prom."

My hat was camouflage

But I wonder how that deluded Indian (?) kid we partly walked back with now. Especially traveling

Her schedule maybe radically different as well.

They tend to eat at different times, go to bed later and get up later as well.

Yeah the kid would come in early September and my daughter would go early 2018. Surprisingly I'm not really worried about my daughter leaving.

Did Little Crest drink wine with his 9:00 p.m. dinners over there?

As an aside, I was a little surprised when my son was home from school on break and didn't have a beer. And was unsettled by my talking about "The Loud", even though I know he occasionally puffs.

I was 11.

So that means that I clumsily tried, but knowing nothing about game, no. :?

He drank at the wedding he attended. Not much else though.

My family hosted a two Germans when my brother was in high school and I was in college.

No issues. Germans are low maintenance. Her family reciprocated and he ended up doing a stint in Germany

Different food? Isn't the point of an exchange student coming here is to experience the typical American life? Wouldn't you just serve him/her what you normally serve your family?

That's what I thought. They told me that I need to try to accommodate the child.

Fuck that. Douchebag is right. Give the kid a Big Mac and Coke for every meal and tell him to get the fuck out if he doesn't like it.

Breakfast: McGriddles
Lunch: Lunchables
Dinner: Chipotle

The kid will forget paella ever existed.

Just have the kid move in with IMU.

If Don Tiny would have made this post there would have been a fried chicken or watermelon joke included somewhere in it. Do better.
