What a fucking moron.
She should be charged with a couple felonies for that shit.
I'm not 100% up to speed with the laws in Michigan but here in the wonderful land of Illinois you aren't justified in use of deadly force in a property crime.
The use of lethal force that can end in homicide is justified in the situation of immediate, otherwise unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm to the innocent. — Massad Ayoob
This is the statement to end all statements when it comes to use of justified lethal force.
In other words that woman was reckless and has no business at this point being credentialed for carry. She should go to jail for this little stunt.
Whether concealed or open, what are your minimum requirements for it. I recall IL having about 10 hours of class and range time to qualify for it. Is that enough in your mind. Ogie often makes the point someone properly trained on a HG can take down an AR. But our laws don't satisfy that when they grant the license. I imagine military are trained 100's if not thousands of hours on proper gun procedures. Yet I can carry in 10 hours. Your thoughts on this.
My buddies all ran out and got their CC when it became legal. I wanted no part in it as I have no where near the training for it. These are the same guys that can't remember to put the safety on at the gun range.
16 hours training including firearm competency requirements (proving your ability to handle a firearm on a range, specifically hitting your target at greater than 70% at distances of 5, 7 and 10 yards, which in my opinion, could be done by a blind man but I digress).
Personally the 16 classroom hours are fine but I'd prefer to see higher standards in the range. Call it over 100 rounds with 90% accuracy for starters.
Could a pistol shooter take down an ar user? Yeah. David killed goliath with a rock but honestly the ar has vast advantages over a pistol. Just the distance between the front right and the rear sights make a huge difference. Honestly in a confrontation with a rifle user a pistol may only be useful in suppressing fire and getting to a rifle.
If your friends aren't properly handling their weapons and specifically honoring the 4 commandments then point it out to them. If they're too cool to follow proper safe protocol then they have no business using weapons. I'd be sick to death if an RSO or friend pointed out a situation in which I didn't follow the 4 commandments. I mean I suppose humans are human and accidents happen but it should be so ingrained in you (especially if you have a ccl) that it's just how you operate.
Let me know if you have further questions or require me to clarify.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.
