I find it’s always a good sign when I get warnings on phone 24 hours before storm. Another 6 inches on top of the 6 we got Monday night sounds just fantastic.

So is anyone else SUPER excited for the new local news storm coverage fad of having a reporter sit in the news van and showing a view of the road from inside the news van? I personally think it is perhaps one of the most idiotic news coverage ideas of recent memory... um lets send the van out and drive around for four hours.... yup, its snowing outside and its harder to drive.... lets stop at the gas station and talk to someone pumping gas.... so what do you think of the weather right now how is it driving out there? "it sucks" great thanks... "original reporting" back to you

out of all the leaked celebrity videos, I still think the hottest one is the beautiful, young reporter getting it on in the news van with the old coot cameraman

That has to be at least a decade old and still holds up

These jerkoffs are right about 39% of the time, lets see if they get this right.

I always think of this news guy whenever the station puts news and weather people in unnecessary locations.

They have been forecasting this storm for about a week now.

I bet schools will be closed tomorrow. Our educators jump at any opportunity to NOT do their job.

Schools are usually closed because bus drivers call in sick.

I can’t speak for all districts but if they cancel school here it gets added to the end of the year. Most employees would rather be done earlier when the weather is nice than stuck in the house for a day or two during winter.

Marry an educator, and let me know if you think the same.

They get a few "baked in" snow days.

Yep.

School was called off for one of the kids earlier this week the night of a run of the mill Chicago snow storm. It is pretty obvious that would not have happened if it were December with many possible snow days ahead. However, in mid February they know they essentially have these days that they have to use with little chance of any major weather left.

Now they have already called school for tomorrow.

WTF is wrong with people. This is Chicago. 8 inches of snow isn't THAT much.

Fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow!

...only because I care so much about student attendance. I am certain that the attendance rate will be much higher on a warm day in June than it will be tomorrow.

I want a snow day tomorrow for my kids—we haven’t had any in a couple of years. It’s a right of passage to get an unplannned day of sledding, shoveling, and hot chocolate.

There’s even a bad movie starring Chris Elliot with this theme—the kids sabotage the snow plow driver to get a day off.
