Then I love you.

We should meet up for a bowl. There should be a sit down restaurant where the principal meal is soup. Not some take out soup nazi place where you have to eat out of a paper cup like a resident of Hooverville.

There used to be a place called The Mashed Potato Club where every meal was based around mashed potatos. It was good

They invariably slip in some animal blood based soup or something they serve cold. It's mildly warm about one month per year there. Who's eating a chilled soup?

This isn't the time to push the envelope. You should respect the brotherhood feeling of the board. And yes, I get to say such things when it's my fucking thread.

Nevertheless, that's a good question. I'm gonna have to pray on this.

I take a liberal interpretation. If it is liquid based and you eat it with a spoon, its soup. You can then subdivide the soup group as you wish.

That's really well defined (but not well-defined).

Absolutely cream of chicken with wild rice at one of the MANY Greek diners in DeKalb/Sycamore named Parkway was a Sunday tradition in my later high school and college years.

Bibgo. The missus and I lived at Clark and Fullerton for six years and there was a diner around the corner that served cream of chicken with rice every day if you asked for it.

The diner closed and we haven't been able to find this good of soup since.

Jesus. Life without kids. I'd like to go back just to appreciate that for a few hours.

Do they still make that in a factory in New Jersey and ship it around the country in huge bags?

Yeah, we haven’t really gotten a break break from the toddler for almost a year.

I love the kid to death, but a night or weekend out with the wife would be heaven right now.

Lol...I don’t know, my man.

But I don’t care how mass produced it is. Give me endless refills and breadsticks and I’m a happy man

Does Bergoff have soup?

I like a couple of chilled soups. Some summer ones are pretty good.

Crick, you read my mind with regards to the Olive Garden soup. I'd also be inclined to say that soup and breadsticks are likely the best thing they offer at that place. Not a big soup guy generally but if you forced me to answer I would say that I have a hard time saying no to a good Clam Chowder, especially anytime during the fall or winter months.

I have. It's called the Kitchen Sink at Beaches & Cream. Part of the Beach Club at Disney's Boardwalk area. Quite good...

I think to qualify as soup, stock/broth/water has to be involved.

they're just trying to be disagreeable with my definition of soup

I do like the ice cream to melt a little though before I eat it. Problem is, once you put it before me I devour it like a dog with a bowl of kibble

Mashed potato club sounds good as an idea but I'm a little bit of a traditionalist there. The new thing seems to be the Mac and Cheese places.

Edit: reading about the MPC...might want to appeal to a broader clientele.

I've always wanted to try one of those places that have 6-8 variations. When I was a kid, my neighbor would tell her son to go get me whenever she really went all in on one because she knew I loved it and no one in my family made it.

I may make one next week.

My wife and I have made baked sweet potatoes a couple times the last month and we put taco fixings on top ( sour cream, shredded cheese, hot sauce ). Damn it is good.

If done right. Nothing better than a good Baked French Onion with a giant piece of garlic bread crouton that sucks up a decent amount of the liquid and topped off with a nice baked cheese. A lot of the restaurants over salt the soup where you are dehydrated for a few days after. Ruins a perfect soup.
