What's your plan for stopping fires from starting in a highly fire prone area when 100 MPH wind gusts show up? Is it the same plan when tornadoes and hurricanes show up to tornado prone and hurricane prone areas?

Well I start with “having water”. Crazy idea, that’s just my white privilege talking maybe.

Hasn't this been a problem in LA for like 100 years, even under the time before DEI?

Can't inconvenience the almond farmers.

What do you mean problem? Was DEI a problem before DEI? I don’t know how you expect me to answer that question.

Water issues in LA have been a problem for like 100 years. It's not like they suddenly had water issues starting in 2020 once they hired a non-straight white male.

Actually, believe it or not, it is like they suddenly had water issues for fighting fires starting when the new bosses came in.

But no I’m definitely curious to know why politicians in Tornado Alley haven’t decolonized their mindset and tried spraying tornadoes with the most abundant resource on earth.

If they had water up until 2020 how did all these things happen?

How is the fire department in charge of water? Fire is literally in their name. I think peoples’ gripe is with the water department.

Obtuse disingenuous Rick making an appearance. Did they literally run out of water during those previous wildfires? We have plenty of water in Chicago, how come we still have fires anyway?

I would guess water was also in short supply during many of these fires given their inability to stop them from causing massive destruction.

Maybe not though. What decisions were made since 2020 that caused LA to run out of water?

they even wrote a song about it in the 90s

We can live beside the ocean
Leave the fire behind
Swim out past the breakers
Watch the world die

I mean the DEI mayor cut LAFD funding by 17% you don’t think that maybe had something to do with it.

And the fire chief stated that inclusion, diversity, and equity will be her highest priority. I would think something else should be a higher priority for the chief of a fire department, but maybe I'm just a bigot.

Just my observation being a frequent visitor to the area. In 2024 I was in the area in April and I was very surprised how wet and green it was. There were loads of rain and melt from Jan-Apr. Remember how Lakes Mead and Tahoe were refilling?

Anyway drought since May but that is expected and all those reservoirs etc were full. I saw them. I have no idea how a mayor or lesbian fire chief matters but something seems wrong.

Keeping an eye on the grandkids in Santa Clarita as they are close to the Hurst fire. Their friends lost a property already. Maybe they will find real blame somewhere but with these winds this year not much you could do. Outside of making sure the water pressure works.

I think the only answer is to only hire straight white males as firefighters.

I figured people would be happy that a bunch of woke millionaire’s houses got destroyed. Isn’t that what we all want around here? For people to die in fires?
