About Anne Maxfield
Anne Maxfield is a Chicago area native who attended the
University of Notre Dame and graduated with a BA in English.
After working at the University as a Freshman Academic Advisor for four years, she moved back home to Chicago and began down the arduous path of getting into the field of Radio. Anne first worked at US99 (Country format), slowly working her way up the programming ladder.
Subsequent stations included WJJD (Oldies format as a DJ); WBBM-AM (news/traffic); WGN (sidekick/traffic) and WSCR (sports/News and Cohost).
As the business of commercial radio declined, Anne left radio and founded Circa 1856, which specializes in using antique watch fobs to make modern pieces.
Anne enjoys doing charity work when time permits. Her favorite charities are
Friends for Therapeutic Equine Activities (FTEA), a group which trains horses to work with children with physical and mental disabilities. And Canine Therapy Corps, where Anne’s Golden Doodle Hampton recently became an official therapy dog.
(See Anne’s blog posts on the subject).
About Our Jewelry
All of our necklaces are antiques. Most are made from personal watch fobs.
Many are Victorian, made between 1850 and the early 1900’s, with modern chains. Others date from the turn of the Century up to the 1950’s. Most are Gold-filled, Silver-plated, or metal.
Some of the bells on the bottoms of the fobs were engraved by mysterious ancestors of our past. Other bells are clear and hold the possibility of engraving your own initials or those of your loved ones.
Some of the pieces have been crafted by combining parts from various watch fobs, pins and medallions all from different decades.
Please note that while each necklace has been painstakingly cleaned and restored, there still may be imperfections, as these are indeed antiques.
Thanks!
