This just invites inappropriate behavior. Anything left up to a manager's discretion has the potential to be a disaster in office politics.

And who cares if the execs have been using this system? Does the CEO approve their requests? Doubt it. It's probably the honor system at that level.

Yea, I would guess the CEO technically does... but probably didn't actually do it.


My manager is at the Director level, reports to a VP. Talked to my manager today and he said he didn't mind it. He would basically just tell his boss when he was taking time off, and it wasn't an issue. But he made sure it wasn't end of quarter, etc.
