If you know it truly won't work out...even if you were to give it a full 6 or 12 months, it is best not to dick yourself around, or dick them around. Explain it to your current employer and put in your 2-4 weeks. Begin looking for a new job.

Be honest on your resume...they usually can find out.

If the job you are performing involves a rooftop, you should probably leave as soon as possible.

Hardly being a quitter; the only people that would tell you that are either making a buck off of you or are insecure.

There's little dignity in being miserable in a ham and egger job (I presume you're not, say, a Senator) that imparts inordinate stress well beyond the norm .... and I'm guessing that you're probably not doing the frau any favors by being unsettled.

I'm guessing that's part of what was promised but not being delivered upon.

The other night, I was watching a provocative movie on cable television, called The Net, with the girl from the bus.

I think leaving a job after less than six months or whatever is a brighter shade of a red flag for entry level folks than those established in their careers. If you got some solid work history built up then it would probably matter much less in terms of future prospects. Probablybget bonus points in interviews for being candid and honest about why you left, assuming you gave notice at the job you plan to leave.

I only glossed this but you are getting another position prior to quitting, right?

Don't worry about quitting, Dbag. As long as companies have racial quotas to fill for white males, you'll never have a problem finding a job.

The company also seems to be an unorganized mess, which is not helping matters for me. This is a large company that has employees all over the country, and it's really difficult to work together on things when you're not sitting together in the same office. Communication is a real problem (I know, what company doesn't have this issue), but this is different than other problems that I have run into in my past.

I've been asked to work on many things that I don't think I'm qualified to do, and I foresee this eventually blowing up in my face possibly. I'm not the type of person that accepts failure well, so this is really scaring the shit out of me. So far, I think I've done a good job, but there's shit coming down the pipeline that I am very unsure of and some that I have no interest working on.

My question to you all is, does leaving a job after only a few months look bad to prospective employers? IMO, anything less than 6 months looks bad on a resume, but I wanted to see what others thought on this issue. My two previous jobs I was at, I worked 2 years, and 5+ years, so I have those to show that I am not some sort of job-hopper. Are those enough to cancel out just bailing on this job?

A friend referred me to this job, so I feel a little bad for them also if I skip out. The pay is good, but I would honestly sacrifice some and go somewhere else. Nobody likes to wake up in the morning and have to go to work, but I pretty much dread it every morning the alarm goes off right now.

White people problems....

Get another job and dont list this one and say you took some time off.

This. You took some time off over the holidays, and now you are ready to roll.

Exactly. End of November to present = one epic bender and one full stint of rehab. Cocked, locked, and ready to rock!

It's never too soon. If you aren't happy then leave. The company isn't loyal to you. You gotta look out for yourself.

you do know that nearly nobody actually gets 99 weeks, right? its just a sensationalist headline. most people only get 26, and to qualify after that your state has to have above average unemployment rates. the only way to get anything more then 38 weeks you have to live in a state with 8% or higher unemployment, which most dont.

furthermore, even if you do qualify for 99 weeks, remember 26 of those were from the state which is paid for BY THE UNEMPLOYED. they paid into the insurance system before they got the unemployment.

getting really tired of assholes who use that 99 weeks as an argument. know what youre arguing before you make yourself look stupid.

Just accepted an offer today for a new job. I tried sticking it out here, but it just wasn't for me. For my new job i'll be working from home and mixing in some travelling also. Got a nice pay bump, and it seems like a great opportunity for me.

So long to this bullshit I'm in right now.

Congrats. Have gone through the same crap myself. Moved back to Illinois eight months ago got the same job back I had when I left on good terms seven years ago and BOOM friggin nightmare every day. Totally not the same just bad in every way. Just got a new gig yesterday and telling the boss today see ya today. On vacation last two weeks kind of planned that new job would start while I was on vacation. Life is to short to dread going to work. I got to where every night I could not even sleep dreams were about what nightmare awaited me the next day. No fun.

agreed. that DEpression we went through was hell. for years i was stuck in a day job that just kept getting worse because they knew jobs were scarce. totally opposite of the late 90's... even though i had no experience i was always treated valuable. these days most jobs still act like youre fucking them over every hour youre there. SO glad to be in the position i am now, which is looking like it soon will blow up into a big time gig
