Anything inside the house is pretty much the wife's territory. The only exception is I fix anything that breaks and I do my own laundry. I also manage all the money and bills as it makes sense to have a CPA doing that.

Anything outside the house is pretty much mine, mainly cutting the lawn and fixing stuff.

She drives and picks the kids up from school. We split the driving around for sports. We split the dog walking and clean up.

Why do you do your own laundry Denis? thats interesting.

Funny you should ask. I started doing my own laundry when I was ten years old. For some reason, I don't like other people touching my clothes. I just kept doing it once we got married. My mother says that my dad was the exact same way. Hard to believe that is an inherited trait.

I treat it as a zen exercise with the willow bending in the wind and therefore never being uprooted by the storm. I've given up hope that the house will be perfectly clean except for an hour or so before a party.

It confuses me that everyone else seems to have an immaculate house, brilliant children, disposable income and a perfect marriage. I simply don't know how its done.

  Yeah, for other people we want the house to look nice but for ourselves it can be a mess.

Yeah, my house is trashed, my kids are crazy, I have no money and my wife and I never have time to ourselves. All I see are facebook posts about happy people doing happy things. Fuck that, I'm surviving over here.

Kids can eat. Those grocery bills will be rising. I'm spending nearly $300 dollars a month on hair and haircuts (mine included). Other than sports boys are relatively cheap but girls are expensive.

My wife works at two different hospitals, three 12 hour shifts in Joliet, and one 8 hour shift at LCM in Evergreen Park. Fortunately that leaves her plenty of time for doing the bathrooms, dusting, floors, that sort of deep cleaning. Outside stuff I do, laundry I do, other stuff we tend to split. I can't imagine its very easy doing that and having one kid, much less kids. We have a fairly good situation for the housework.

Is there a folding/putting away machine that I'm not aware of?
Taking the dirty clothes, putting them in the machine and then switching machines takes grand total of 60 seconds.

For the nit-pickers in this thread: Folding and putting away laundry sucks ass. That's the only job (outside of kid stuff) that my wife takes care of. Thank god for that - I'd be wearing the same clothes for months without her.

Kids get less expensive at the age of 6 because that's when they go to school full time. Next year we're gonna feel like we inherited another house payment's worth of $ every month now that daycare will be done.

Don't get married and have kids. That way you don't have to clean.

I need to get caught up, haven't listened to any the new episodes since the Springfield and Geragos one. Wish they wouldn't pinch the News segment so much; they need the time to run 20 minutes+ of ads now so they take it out of the news. Remember when podcasts were better than radio because they didn't have many/if any ads. Those were the days.

We have two hampers, one for whites and one for darks.

I would rather do 10 loads of laundry than do one sink full of dishes. I hate doing dishes.

They are going to mentally abuse him. They'll likely learn how to work together to get what they want by 3. A 3 to 1 ratio isn't fair. Thank God boys provide some balance.

Laundry is the most passive of all chores. I've never minded it. Sorting/folding can be done while watching sports. SPORTS, spanky! Even the rolled-up socks can turn into an impromptu game of pop-a-shot with the laundry basket.

My wife always bitches that I dont do the laundry enough. Problem is that she puts it in the washer and dryer and then it never gets folded. WTF? Folding and putting away IS the laundry. Anyone can put something in a machine and then transfer to another machine... I had to fold 3 loads of laundry last night that had built up. I just brought it all to the bedroom and folded while watching the Hawks.

I never sort clothes. It all gets washed together on warm. If I lose a white article of clothing due to a brand new red one from time to time I consider it an acceptable loss.

I sort my clothes also and I have also done a wonderful job as a parent and taught my 15 year old how to wash laundry. He can now come home from school and throw loads in the washer and dryer, it is GLORIOUS!!

The extra laundry will be a trade off when you start missing beer.
