No maybe about it.

We aren't hugely involved and don't donate a ton. We might have to start, I guess.

You're Son is a little leaguer, right? Who the hell cares about tenacity in a Kid that young? If he has "average skills" and his game play is "excellent" then he should be on the team. Lacked tenacity. That's ridiculous.

Oh. I thought it was a baseball travel team. Is tenacity that important in a young hockey player?

it can if you let the coach's word speak. Outsiders have a far better chance of affecting change with young men. Parents get no respect.

Try out for one of the 20 other travel teams in the area. Play in a house league and/or pickup another sport.

If he did his best then there is nothing he can do about it now except improve for next year. Tell him you are proud of him for trying out and that if he still likes playing there is no reason he can't try again next year, or that you can find somewhere else where he can play.

Lots of kids get cut, lots of kids lose games. He's bummed today but its a good life lesson for him. Tell him how MJ got cut, and I'm sure he knows that the JRW kids actually LOST the final game.

Quite naturally, there is potentially only one response to a situation of this nature. As has been widely reported in certain circles to some degree over time, even myself was cut from his high school team. The best revenge is to adopt a maniacal determination to destroy anyone who ever even thought about enjoying that sport for the rest of their lives through complete domination.

Certainly, I didn't pay attention to any details but I understand your man is a golfer. The first thing he needs to do is let the Principal know that the golf team is "his" and find out what talent can be assembled from local colleges. It would be best to give the Principal a demeaning nickname so he knows who's in charge. Maybe he's ugly, so he could call him "Ugly", something like that.

Secondly, to some extent, get the current team in line by berating them in practice as best he can. Toughen those guys up. Throw golf balls at them and laugh at them because he's better than they are and there's nothing they can do about it. They might not be laughing but it's funny.

Certainly, as a result, for the young man, he will enjoy great wealth and the admiration of women the world over to some extent. He may need to satiate those predilections. You need to let him. It's part of the process.

I'd wish him luck but luck is for losers.

Is this a song lyric?

Yes. It's from an MFD song.

Thank him and give him the $5,000 he saved you had he made the team. He'll probably get over it.

Thanks qbo. That was actually written about a board member believe it or not.
I appreciate the constructive criticism. It's usually sung differently than it appears written out. It's a bit different with each performance.

Assuming a house league exists, Travel is such bullshit. It's parents thinking their kids are all stars! STOP IT!

Play in the house league and then sign him up for one or two lessons a week, in the long run,if he ahs any talent he will be better.

Being "coached" by volunteer parents gets you nowhere.

For the record, MFD performed the song but it is a Darkside original.

Yes, very much so.

Skill and hockey sense are very important, but if you don't have tenacity the game will pass you by very quickly. Players without tenacity tend to float around and wait for the puck to come to them, players with tenacity tend to go get the puck. As a coach, floaters drive you crazy cause you see the skill level and know that if they just wanted it more they would be much better players.

But, its all maturity. You can't force someone to be as intense as they need to be, they have to grow up and find that level themselves. Some never do and some do later in life.
