Really disliked the chain of command culture there. The officers and higher ranking military do not give one shit about our soldiers, and they were shockingly transparent about that. One of the deciding moments for not re-enlisting for me came when they were doing a room inspection, knocked my xbox off it's desk and broke it, and then laughed and left. When I tried to complain to anybody about it, I was basically told the sergeants could do whatever they wanted and we had to put up with it.

Edit: Oh, and constantly being treated like a little kid gets old also. They love doing that.

One of my best friends did the career. Did a couple tours in Iraq and is working at the Pentagon now. He loves it. But he went through ROTC so I'm guessing that's a completely different experience.

Yeah being an officer is night and day difference from being enlisted.

I really wanted to deploy since I was an electrician and not on the front lines, but was never able to. Regardless, I am still glad I joined for the one term I did. It was an interesting and eye opening experience on many levels.
