Yup. It was about revenue. If the WNBA made as much money as the NBA the players should be paid the same.

So you agree there's nothing misogynistic about saying men have performance advantages when it comes to a majority of modern sports?

I have many posts about how wide the gap is in most sports.

So it's okay for you to say that men are more athletic than women but wrong for someone else to say that men possess biological advantages that allow them to earn, on average, more than a woman over their lifespan?

Yeah and then what does this mean?

That's why sports is a special case.

Why?

There hasn't been a woman to play long term in the major sports to such a degree we had to create their own leagues. If there was a female who did make it they deserve comparable compensation. We did see that with Danica Patrick but circle driving is unique.

Why do you think women haven't made it in major sports?
Men are bigger and stronger.

See my point about Danica Patrick. She was compensated fairly just like a woman who becomes a VP should be too.

Now if we want to argue something makes women incapable of certain non-sports jobs then we can discuss that but I think it will be a tough case to make.

Yes, it would be a tough case to make because people such as yourself say things like "Wow" whenever anyone even suggests it. It's so politically toxic that no one could ever conduct such a study unless it produced the "desired" results.

Wow.

You think women based on biology deserve to be paid less in non-sports jobs?

I think my wife deserves equal pay to the people who work similar jobs. I guess I'm crazy though.

It's now 12 pages in. I probably have 25 percent of the posts. I think I have addressed just about everything. If you think the wage gap exists and is fair then so be it.

Haven't read the whole thread so this point has probably been made already. The wage gap thing is a clear problem where salary structures are prearranged, such as government posts and whatnot. When women get paid less than men at places like that then it's easier to make a case that women are being treated unfavorably. As jawbreaker said many pages ago, it's harder to make that case when there's a "free market" so to speak. There are other variables involved that result in statistics that show women are paid less than men, and it isn't always bias. Yes, in principle a woman and man with the same exact credentials and experience should be compensated the same. But there is a sort of socialist for lack of a better term presupposition when it comes to people saying corporate offices and whatever should pay their executives the same regardless of gender. It just doesn't work like that outside of highly regulated places like federal or state workplaces. And rhetorically asking whether women should be paid the same as men for the same work doesn't help. Of course they should. But moralizing this doesn't help - it's an economic issue that we keep thinking about it in moral categories.

I think some roles are determined to an extent by gender. For example, I have never hired anyone to clean my home that was not a woman. I would never have someone give me a haircut or a massage that wasn't a woman either. It just seems fitting to have a woman in those roles.

Don’t rule out the male masseuse. The physically stronger hands enable a more effective deep tissue massage on sore muscles, although the happy ending can be a bit rough.

In studying the gender pay gap, Google finds more men are underpaid.

Good for Google giving raises to those underpaid men.
