I think our society as a whole is shit at dealing with our anger responses. Hell, the majority of our society probably doesn't know what an anger response is. But the point is, there might be something to the idea that shouting a slur at someone in a childish fit of anger isn't really representative of someone's personality and beliefs. It COULD indicate that, mind you, but it could also be that said person doesn't deal well with frustration, but does deal well in thinking of sick shit to say to other people in an effort to get under their skin.

It's like JDC saying all the vile, female-centered criticism she receives is from people angry at her for being a woman in the sports media industry. But if I'm an internet troll, or someone angry at JDC and wanting to deal with it in a childish manner, and I want to maximize my chances of eliciting a response from her, what gives me the best chance to do it, calling her an asshole? That would explain why the trolling of male media members mostly centers on things our culture tells males to care about (dick size, bank account size, place in social or corporate hierarchy, etc.). Anyway, that's how I attempt to explain certain aspects of trolling, don't know if there's anything to it.
